This a awesome guide. I couldn't get my hands on a 1" crow foot wrench in time for my installation so we just tightened it with a 1" deep socket first; then we attached the hose and tightened the clamp with a tiny ratchet and 7mm socket. It was super simple this way for anyone who doesn't have a crow foot wrench.

Thank you for this. Particularly the crow's foot. You are literally the only person that even shows the fastener tightened to the block, let alone properly explain how to do so. I even asked people wtf they used to tighten it. Everyone says an adjustable wrench, channel locks, or vice grips. I have multiple sizes of each but speaking from experience, that steering part in the way makes using those tools not really possible. Now I can break the thing back out and throw it on next coolant flush!

Thanks again for another great video. Though I did the I Build Race Cars version, they’re all pretty much the same. This gave me the confidence to do it myself. Biggest hurdle was finding the 1” crowfoot wrench and then playing around with all the angles to get things tightened down.

Putting that barb in with the crowfoot was such a pain in the ass (and neck).

Just did the install yesterday and finished up today. This was an extremely helpful video. Just like your IDoing head unit install. With this one, I had to do it a little differently since, I'm sure you know now, the coolant mod hoses are now bent at a 90 degree angle, I had to screw the barb in by itself then mount the hose. That's pretty much the only difference. I still don't understand why we had to pinch the hose but I did it anyway and after a good 20 min, I didn't get any more bubbles and temps were smack dab where they should be. I will continue to monitor throughout the next week or so and then I'll throw my under cover back on. Thank you for the really informative video.

Had my 21 sti for almost a year and i got it right before summer ended, so im experiencing my first full summer with the car and today i got to see first hand how my sti would act during 100+ degree weather. I had low throttle response and when i had the ac on and i gently pressed on the gas, itd go to 1100 rpm then go right down to about 700rpm even when my foot is still pressing on the pedal lightly. Did some research and it was just heatsoaked. I want a ic sprayer but dont trust myself to diy it with the wiring. So this may be the next thing ill do the next time i change my coolant. Considering the video is super informative

great video bud. I would suggest a red rubber tip for your test light / visual probe to make it safer from scratching sensitive areas. and also easier to see. All the extra bolts I personally use various types of anti seize and thread lock. Thread lock is super important if you ever expect anything to stay put or 10 k plus Kilometers. last tip, before removing the filler funnel for your coolant, you can squeeze on the rubber hoses a bit to raise the coolant level before plugging the funnel. so that way, you have no spills. Again, great Video, super clean engine too, Beautiful. I bet she's a lot of fun. Cheers

@@akqjtn You have really taught me a lot!I like the logic and process of your all video very much. You are definitely a good teacher If you teach in school. I try to replace a new Radiator and plan to add this Cooling Mod at the same time, but I am still confusing that dose the Cooling Mod needs to be pinched all the time during the system burping? Great video, the only part I question is why would you pinch the mod hose off before filling? You'd be holding in air that would then be released when you take the clamp off. Seems counterintuitive.
@akqjtn2 жыл бұрын
The hose adds one more path for air bubbles to travel so that's why you pinch it. That said, it is NOT 100% necessary to do, it just might make the burping process marginally longer.

Great video, but I'm not sure why you pinched that new hose during system burp. You created small dead spots around that pinch that are likely to trap air. I think I would either skip that pinch, or remove it at the tail end of the burp
@akqjtn2 жыл бұрын
It's not a 100% necessary step so you can skip that, it just might make the burping marginally longer.
@LeonardoContreras2 жыл бұрын
That is exactly what I was thinking. Wasn’t it better having it flow evenly during the burp system?

This particular mod really doesn't have much to do with the AOS so feel free to do them in whatever order you want. My recommendation, however, is to do one at a time to completion, that way there is less of a chance of something being missed.
