I personally own the ice based Unvest system, and was looking into getting a chiller unit & the spendy backpack AC unit (BICS), so this was very valuable insight into their AC units & performance. Love the graphs and varying cooling performance at different temperatures. As an engineer, I really appreciated that! Thank you!

Out of curiosity, have you ever tried to set the device temperature all the way down to the lowest temperature (23 F)? If so, did it reach 23 F?

@@jaichang6847 I missed this reply, The lowest I have set the device was 35F when the ambient was 72F. I only recorded 1 reading of 35. The unit was holding at 37.

Hi, I’m watching your video and see it is an about a year old now. I’m looking at this unit or the backpack version. I live in Arizona and it has been roughly 90-115 degrees out while I’m trying to work outside installing gate operators. Is this something that would be able to maintain a cool temperature? I’m not sure if your tests were factoring “wearing” the cool shirt or if this was just the temperature of the shirt itself? I’m looking at using one with one of their full suits. Pants/shirt/ head cover. Just not sure if it would be able to maintain. Maybe just your opinion of it after a year of use? Thanks!

@@psocket6333 I ended up switching to using a cooling pad, that is originally meant for cold therapy. For my application, I have the cooling pad hanging on the back of my seat. The water still circulates through the pad. The pad works much better than the vest. I am able to run at 70 degree water and feel much cooler than 55 degree water that was running through the vest. As for keeping up with the temperature demand, I have found that the biggest thing with these chillers is airflow. If you don’t have enough air blowing through them, they don’t work well.

@@justing6594 i haven’t had a chance to make an update video but here is what I have changed. I ended up switching to using a cooling pad, that is originally meant for cold therapy. @@HeBeGB501 that's dope. I was thinking of using some frozen gel packs. Cutting a hole in two spots . Them make an s-curve all through the packs with line. Then run water through the line. I figure if the water can go through all the line at a slower pace it can cool it faster for longer. I dunno though.

I don't have enough to make a full video update yet but I was able to re-run the 95 degree test with a new power supply and with a 180CFM fan ducted to pull air out of the chiller. With the controller set to 35 degrees, the chiller was able to get down to 51 degrees in 15 minutes and hold within a a degree for roughly 30 minutes before the temperature began to drop even more. At 41 minutes, the temperature was at 48 degrees. 60 minutes in, the temperature was at 44 degrees and hovered between 44 and 46 degrees for 15 more minutes, until I ended the test. I also ran a quick test to see if I could use a mini radiator as a small evaporator coil. The experiment worked. I was able to force air through the fins and the air coming out dropped roughly 20 degrees.

@@HeBeGB501 this has to be one of the best and most need examples of the use of these cool vests......i played around with making my own years ago out of a construction vest.....i used a sam iglo 6 pack style cooler and a water fountain pump i had lying around and it worked perfect....i was on roof of a commercial building doing some ac Repair...and it was 95 out ...and wearing the vest where the air could blow through the pores...made it perfect.....like it was a 70 degree daY the testS you are doing are SPOT on....waiting for you next vid ! ..Cheers indeed...and please have a happy day Jay. : )
