I'm not really that big into rap, but Coolio is great. He actually writes his OWN songs and in his live performances, he doesn't just rely on back tracks. He actually had instruments playing to make the song feel as fulfilling as the actual song.

I remember seeing Coolio on Fran Drescher's show The Nanny where she got the idea that the character he played was a famous 'rapper' but he turned out to be a nerd who wrapped gifts in a dept. store in NYC...it was one of their funnier episodes!!!! Coolio is a good actor apparently...he sure seemed like a nerd!!!! Must be a fun person to know...Love U Coolio!!!!!

Gangsta's paradise came out in 95... Dre's The Chronic with snoop on it came out earlier, in 92. And NWA started in 86 which is hard to believe but its true. I see where youre coming from though and I gotta say even with dre and snoop and notorious and tupac and all the others this is prolly one of the best 90s songs ever
