I usually sew the right side of the biastape to the wrong side of the garment, and then flip over to the right side. That way you can topstich on the right side of the garment and you wont be able to see the first line of stiches on the outside. Hope this helps anyone who cant get it to look clean!

I prefer same method. It gives piping effect and also hides puckering on main fabric edges caused by bias tape pulling on curves

Not many patterns and tutorials show or explain how to finish ALL the raw edges, but I’ve found that after I cut out my pieces, I staystitch any bias edges (armholes, necklines, or any curved sections), and serge around all the edges. That way if I forget to finish any inner seams they’re already done and it makes for a much cleaner garment!

This is perfect! I love jumpsuits, but I have a long torso so unless the straps are adjustable they usually pull in the crotch area. But now I can just measure a jumpsuit I already own. This looks fun! Thanks for uploading the tutorial!

I have the bias tape making tool & LOVE it . Before I hated making bias tape so usually bought contrasting premade tape. Since then ALL of my bias tape is made to match. It is especially useful making bias tape for scalloped edge quilts. I have a set in all sizes.

I just want to say I am so incredibly thankful for your channel! I don't remember how I came across it almost 5 years ago but you are the reason I felt inspired to start sewing & it has changed my life ~ it feels so liberating to be able to create clothes, quilts & so many other things! Thank you April! lol it feels a bit odd to type that because my name is April too (:

I have the bias tape maker - the device that folds the fabric - and it is so easy to use! It really makes creating your own bias tape much easier. I still have to cut out the bias strips with a ruler and rotary cutter. Your jumpsuit looks very cozy and comfortable.
@lindap90793 жыл бұрын
The bias tape maker is a game changer. Not many notions give you that much bang for your buck. Invest in one today! I think it would have been advisable to add a piece of twill tape to the shoulder straps. I think that you may have a problem with stitches popping as the bias shoulder straps flex.

You can use pins on your ironing board to pull the bias tape through. Half first, then sides to half second. I'm sure there's videos explaining it on KZbin. Maybe downtown tailoring has one?

The bias tape makers are totally worth it! I have the simple pull ones - got 4 sizes for less than $5 and its saved me so much time and frustration!! One down side I found was that some heavier fabrics won't pull through. And will definitely try this later :) Great job!!

I use to attach bias as Anna Gesink does. Now, I have a sewing foot that holds the bias and helps place it as I sew. Maybe check into that. Super cute.

I recently had to make 6 yards of bias tape and thought I would buy the maker at Joann but they didnt have the size I needed so I went to the quilting section and they had something better, a felt ruler that can be ironed! It made things go way faster, and you can use it for other things like hemming.

Looks great, as always! Why bias tape vs a hem? And why bias tape in some places but not all? I'm so curious since I know nothing about creating a garment. Thanks!
@chazchick6963 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing a hem wasn't possible since she changed the design of the top part-way through and she may not have accounted for or had enough fabric for hem/seam allowance? Just a guess though. She may have been planning bias tape the whole time since it also became the straps.
@AmythefirstA3 жыл бұрын
Bias tape is really good for curved edges because it stretches. If you tried to do a hem on curved edges it would be warped.
