Coonamble & Lightning Ridge

We visited Coonamble and Lightning Ridge on a recent trip into New South Wales - two places we had never been to before. Coonamble is a small town on the banks of the Castlereagh River, known for its sheep and cattle and dry-land broad acre cropping.
Lightning Ridge is famous as an opal mining centre, attracting over 80,000 tourists a year. And it is quite obvious when you are there, that Lightning Ridge is a little bit different.
