The physical sunder charms are missing dps or useful mods like min/max damage, life, AR, IAS. Maybe even have a sundred earthquake style AOE. Amp damage already breaks immunity without compromising safety.

They added these charms and Terror Zones in to bring in diversity and I love the idea, but agreed that the charms needed more work, but was a nice step in the right direction. Blizzard immediately went several steps backwards when they nerfed Conviction and Lower Resist so severely that it doesn’t really matter and literally left Cold Mastery completely alone. A cold Sorceress doesn’t need Enigma and Infinity. Nice one Blizzard, you added a lot of diversity and then immediately killed it.

A cold Sorceress not needing Enigma and Infinity to effectively farm is why the cold Sorceress has always been and remains the best starting character. But, in PvM they quickly get outdone in damage by fire and lightning once even 25ish percent of enemy resistance is reduced. The damage output of cold skills on the Sorceress are a fraction of what the other elements can do because it is assumed the enemies will have their resistances reduced to abysmal amounts most of the time. It has always been this way, so the introduction of sunder charms merely enables them to farm more areas, as it does for everyone else. It just so happens that the cold Sorceress still has the easiest time reaching a level where they can farm, so the maximum effects of the sunder charm kick in from the start as well.

Theorycrafting a Frost Nova sorc where you also max out ice blast, that way you can melt groups and single targets alike. maxing: Frost Nova, Blizzard, Ice Blast, Frozen Orb, Telekinesis (1 pt in ES .. hybrid health / mana build) .. an insight/prayer merc works really well here.

I like the bliz/FO variant for clearing trash easily in terrorized zone. Max bliz, max FO, max cold mastery, then rest in synergies in that specific order (ice bolt for more FO dmg->ice blast for single target or bosses->glacial spike if you have left overs) I always go for 1 in warmth and 1 in es since i use insight merc with prayer. Med and prayer synergies together and negate most poison dmg even with 40 psn rez in hell. I usually aim for around und 800 life then the rest in energy. I rarely drink any pots what so ever unless i get ganged by souls. Try to get the 105 fcr bp for faster tele/single targe ice blast, but 63 is just fine tbh Tried a couple variations of bliz builds so far and this is my fav since FO just shreds small mobs while bliz/ice blast nuke bosses even in p8 with ok gear. For p1, you just need sunder and some lvls

Cold sorcs have always been OP. Even in 1.10+ Prebuff ES to 40, max Telekinesis, focus on Blizz + Iceblast then other blizzard synergies with cold mastery last. Orb can be useful for trash mobs, but isn't a priority. Conviction merc and lower res wand if you're not using a battle order stick (you should) I always went for block in pvp. Poison and OW can take you to 1 life fast. Iceblast typically causes hit recovery on chars who aren't BMing you, and ES will render you basically invincible to anything except stunning sins and GOOD ww barbs. 105 fcr isn't a must, but definitely helps with Tele and iceblast. 63 fcr BP is easy enough to hit and still stack what you need to stack. You'll want to find items with +skills, obviously... fcr is another must. An uncommonly searched mod is DR and MDR by number, not percent. Mdr works against elemental and magic. Viper is a great armor for this build, with the +% cold helm, deaths touch or a good tiara with +2 sorc, 20 fcr, sockets, mana, Dr, mdr or poison length reduced. Stats are obviously a plus here. Especially if you're going block. I prefer the cold helm, but there is an argument to be made for the tiara as with only deaths fathom, a tiara and viper, you have your first major FCR BP. SoJs, Frostburn, Arachnids, a good FCR ring, a good FCR ammy... the build options are basically limitless. Especially if you're going MFing or PvEing. PvE you probably won't even have to prebuff ES. PvP, it's almost required... I always used a shopped +3 ES Battle Order runeword staff with as much + skill or + lightning skill stuff as I could get to buff. It's annoying.... but you need to save as many skills from having to go into ES as possible. Blizzard, base cold mastery and all dmg synergies are priority, with mastery coming in last on the agenda (+skills, facets and other gear will help here, especially a conviction merc) and you won't worry at all about resistance unless it's poison, and that's a secondary concern. High mana, high block, high # dr/mdr builds are basically immortal. Even at 1 life, you can tank unless something deals poison damage to you. Poison won't kill you immediately, however... but if you're at 1 life and take a second poison hit, you die. JMODs are your ideal shield for block. I always liked spirit as a non block. Whistans is a good budget block option. I never really focused on boots all that much. I did prefer run/walk, and stats though. +Mana is always a bonus. On USEast, 1.10/1.11 my lvl 97 ES/Bliz PvP sorc had 95% ES, 20 Tk, 7k mana, 1500 life, and max block. 10k blessed hammers did no damage to her health pool, and her mana regenned Hella fast. I always used blizzard as a denial of area spell, and iceblast as a primary. Orb dealt with wind druid minions well enough. The only builds I had trouble with 1v1 were GOOD assassins and barbs. Especially assassins. Some poison necros can take you down too, but those were never popular.

Griswold's Valor Corona - up to 24 cold absorb; Blackoak Shield Luna - up to 61 cold absorb; Snowclash Battle Belt - 15 cold absorb, 15% max cold resist; Raven Frost Ring x2 - 20%*2 cold damage absorb, cannot be frozen; Guardian Angel Templar Coat - 15% max cold damage; So u need some other items and runes to get more cold damage... I just made the old standby before they had meta builds and even prior to immunities. Frozen Bliz Orb. While one can get more damage by speciation they took away global cooldown. So you can combo spells. I start a bliz and it cancels into frozen orb, followed by frozen orb, then combo again bliz/orb. While it may not stack out into 8 person groups, by myself or with a few folks it shatters everything with no exception from ubers, to Baal runs, to every c zone with ease with the caveat I have to change merc loadout to uber. 99% of the content is no thought one handed BS. Only needing my second hand when it gets nasty. Can even send a g spike between frozen orbs in a triple combo that dumps mana but it is not needed.

@@draian Ubers for this build is just for fun. If farming for torches use a pally or something. However if you are doing it just to see if you can, just stick a weapon to swap on merc that prevents them from healing. If you have an infinity use that for the Meph pull and just burn him down. Uber Baal takes a bit but at least their minions are not an issue

They work how they always have. Unless you're comparing how it felt on ptr compared to now. We never got to play with the sunders on ptr after they did the 1/5th change.

As far as I understand it, the 1/5 reduction in power only applies to "Sundered enemies," so I would assume that is ones that have their immunity broken by Sunder charm. So maybe if you're playing a build that uses Conviction you're better off just ignoring the charm..? Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

I prefer Orb/Blizzard build. You can toss out almost 2 Orbs during Blizzard cooldown, boosting the damage more than maxing out Blizzard synergies in my opinion.

This. I'm running this build right now at lvl 89. I did 20 into frozen orb, 20 into blizzard and two of the synergies but left out glacial spike and poured the remaining into cold mastery. Having a maxed orb+ synergies is honestly better to me than a maxed blizzard one trick pony. I'll take less blizzard damage for more robust damage output and the ability to clear trash mobs quickly for potential rune drops anyday

@@_Minecraft_ASMR You can choose between a Blizzard 50% damage boost (at best) by maxing another synergy or 2 maxed Orbs instead. The question is do you want your Blizzard deal for example 4.5k damage and being stuck with IceBlast/Glacial as cooldown filler or take a 3k Blizzard instead with far superior Orb as cooldown filler? Without putting points into Telekinesis the relative damage increase by another synergy is even less. In this case @ ~charlvl 90 Blizz damage is more like 5.2k vs 3.7k (40%). But in any case the difference is 1.5k damage to Blizzard (@lvl33), while a single Orb deals about 700 damage per hit (@lvl33). Anyone could do the experiment and compare a 1.5k damage Blizzard (basically lvl33 Blizz without any synergies) with a 700 damage Orb. Orb wins in almost any situation.

And it's still not a big deal. Cold Sorceress being able to farm efficiently while almost naked has ALWAYS been a thing, which is why they've always been THE starting ladder character for going on 20 years now. Everyone else needing an Enigma to keep up with the Sorceress is also a problem that has existed for far too long and is unrelated to the sunder charms. The sunder charms allow any reasonably powerful build to be able to solo all zones with overall reasonably affordable gear. Assuming the 105% FCR breakpoint, a Fireball Sorceress is going to put out more DPS on enemies at 70% resistance than an equally geared Blizzard Sorceress is going to put out on enemies at -100% resistance. This while requiring 20 less points for synergy into the Fireball. It just so happens the cold Sorceress remains the better starting character because they are going to become functional faster due to not needing gear to get the enemy to under 0% resistance, while the fire Sorceress is going to need at least a few pieces of gear to get a bit of -enemy resistance. However, as stated above, it's ALWAYS been the case that cold Sorceress has an easier first character start, so that remains unchanged by this update.

Now, with a sunder charm and lv 60 or something, they are just flying everywhere and killing mobs in Hell like a no brain gamer. It's not Diablo 2 that I knew.

@@trandan7867 But I played cold Sorceress in every ladder just as mindlessly, which is why cold Sorceress has always been the staple starting ladder character. It took no time at all to get a Stealth, dual Spirits, and some FCR rings/gloves combo to hit the 105FCR breakpoint, make an Insight on an A2 mercenary, then the character's effectively got everything needed to farm. Honestly even a casual player should have all of that done within a week, and someone that invests the time can have it done over a weekend. In fact, getting these things should easily be done before well you can find a sunder charm, and if you're trading in the market to get a sunder charm sooner then you would equally more easily get the required items to farm without it anyway. Not having a sunder charm just meant you were more selective in where you farmed, not that farming was any more difficult or took any longer to be able to do. Even then that need to be selective didn't last long at all.

Seriously, cold mastery should work at 1/5th efficiency with sundered monster. Just like infinity and Lower resist. Else, Jewels -5% make no sense to be there. It's so broken. Why working on PTR so much only to make a build even better than Hammerdin is mindblowing.

with the right items and a twitch armor you can go max block on sorc without any stats added wistans makes it easy but also a mosers works very well cuz of the 2 socket so you can double facet. the build can be high end or budget works well with blizzard but also works for fireball

I like to play Frozen Orb + Blizzard. Since the change that every skill has it own cool down. You can Alternate between cast Blizzard and cast Frozen Orb. I think you even can cast 2x Frozen Orb and than Blizzard if you dont need to reposition your self. And Frozen Orb have Ice Bolt Synergy as well like Blizzard have. You lose a little bit of Blizzard Dmg (20 Points in Synergies) but you can compensate it with 1-2 Frozen Orb Cast while Blizzard is on Cooldown. The benefit on top is you have better crowd controll with Frozen Orb. And my main reason is i lilke Frozen Orb :D Its really much fun. Blizzard onto Unique Pack when spam1-2 Frozern Orbs.

I love how the cold sorc was recognized by the devs at launch as being broken in old d2 . Basically what happened is the devs set the resistance cap too high on mobs with no real gear options to get past the cold immunes. So in d2r they allowed full use of cold mastery and introduced cold sunders to try to remedy this. But honestly they should have just lowered the cold immunity cap 10 points across the board. Then at least there would a gg option without a sunder charm and this way the devs can leave cold mastery nerfed to 1/5th and it would be not op but also not broken.

I`m using blizzard + frozen orb sorc, which goes to a slightly lower blizz dmg, due to not maxed synergies, but it`s way easyer to eliminate terror zones etc. just splash blizzard on the packs and then eliminate what left with the frozen orb. Also this build probably won`t be good in p8 games due to lower blizz dmg and not effective frozen orb, but for solo plays and with few people, melting speed is quite faster comparing with blizzard sorc

I have the same build. Maybe not P8 but yesterday I joined a random lobby with 5 other players and I was still doing fine in lvl85 areas and I don't even have the BiS items such as Nightwing or Eschuta's.

I use Frozen Orb. Blizzard is a horrible skill to use. 1- The spell attacks left to right, so If monsters are at the left side of a wall, they will not get hit. 2- smaller monsters often just walk right through the blizzard without getting hit, 3- Casting delay is horrible, which FCR cannot fix. Frozen Orb is great for crowds but lousy against bosses, therefore I use Blizzard on bosses ONLY. They are in one spot, and are easy to hit with Blizzard. The Blizzard sorceress is NOT broken, as there are many other builds that are much more fun to play and are much more efficient. The trade off for lack luster game play is bypassing the monster immunities. This just now puts the Blizzard sorceress back into contention, but not broken by any means. Another issue with using Sunders is it is hard to build up elemental resistance due to the negative impact of the Sunder Charm, which means that for armor, you pretty much have to use COH unless you want your entire inventory slots filled with resistance charms. Again, with the downsides, this is NOT BROKEN.

Yo cooley, somehow whenever I play on a server that has 108+ ping. I can double cast spells with cooldowns like blizzard frozen orb and firewall. And it's not just a visual bug, but actually double casting, I see mephisto drain twice as fast when I firewall him. I found this out when I played on the switch, since I default to aserver away from my local one. I suspect because of the ping there is a delay in the client/server registering the spell cooldown window, allowing me to double cast.

Every build with end game gear is similar now. But because cold sorc have cold mastery skill its broken? Sigh... Nothing has changed...cold sorc have always destroyed enemies..... But now they can do it to the enemies that had cold immunity thanks to Sunder Charms which is great. Hammerdin still the best imo and can survive way better.

im at whatever lvl.of gear 3 piece tals, shako, occy, spirit, anni is.... i respecd to orb with 75 es because i only do p1 tz farming for the most part... it isnt as strong as blizz but i can tank anywhere in the game tz 93 so it balances interestingly for a less pot heavy playstyle

Hi Cooley! Nice video! What about Frozen Orb? Sometime ago you made a video showing both blizz and frozen orb were close (although off course blizz has better st and orb better aoe). BUT we don't have Ormu's Frozen Orb (I don't know why this isn't a thing imo) so we probably have to go with CoH losing +1 point of skill and 20% cold damage. Also for belt Arach losing another +1 point. Considering those differences with sundering charm will still sorceress destroy this game as the blizzard one does?

Ormus can't spawn with skills that are at the lvl 30 mark... Not sure why they did this lol! That being said, Blizzard (in the current state of the game) is now ABSOLUTELY the best when compared to Orb. Admittedly though, my current ladder build uses both. Orb can still be useful for crowd control.

I, of course, started a blizzard sorc this season. I was both curious and greedy! I was against using sunder charms from the very beginning, and still am. However, I'd probably be described as a hypocrite right now, as I currently have one in my inventory. My only reaction to this build is that it literally feels like cheating. Hammerdin at least needed good gear to be very good in *some* areas of the game. I remember hex charms and dupes back in the day, and this feels like the same thing. It's totally broken imo.

What? Blizz sorc has literally always been an S tier build for everything you mentioned except maybe leveling. Shes by far the best pvp sorc build, shes by far the best boss killing build. Sunder just made it so she can clear random mobs now

@@user-cp1vx6ny3e max frozen orb and cold master to 195% (including gear/facets, I personally get 15% from full tals) and max telekenisis and energy shield... rest of points go in 1 point wonders (warmth, static and frozen armor) and start maxing ice bolt for synergy on frozen orb I run full tals, frost burns, 2x soj, spirit monarch with a low torch and mid anni..Anni... I have about 700 life and 2500 mana without BO and can literally facetank the most dangerous of mobs... this is definitely what I'll be using when I go for hard-core 99 achievement Enough str/dex for gear, rest I put into energy... no vit since I was already above 500 unbuffed

Cold Mastery is busted and it costs nothing gear-wise, needs a patch. It was balanced before due to immunities limiting it but now with Sunder it's just broken af. Cold Sorcs don't even need infinity to smoke entire game.

Blizzard only works with a full cold sorceress, so yes you can rip everything THAT IS NOT cold inmune, so then you do hybrid ones , that aren't blizzard, now you can do blizzard without thinking in hybrid

Well, 95% to get them to 0 resist, and another 100 to get them to -100% resist. So technically 195% from cold master including gear.
