That’s awesome. Left home at 17 and in Galveston at my grandmothers. Then thought - oh, I’m almost 18 and unskilled omg😮. Suddenly a coast guard officer stopped by the house (like an Elvis movie - or God thing). No clue what the Coast Guard was (I was from Oklahoma and swimming was some 3 foot deep red clay pond - beer). Anyhow somehow I got in with asvab mess. Then with class of 100 they graduated only 36 - I was in it. I think I swam and graduated because - I was told to? Then later rescue swimmer (smoking 2 packs a day, hung over, in wetsuit jumping out of helicopters sometimes 2:00 am in 16-20 foot mess. lol. 80’s. Nowadays they have a school for that only your Aunt Susan could graduate - not me lol. Anyhow, loved this interview. You rock - keep it going. Mark.

Cooper, I am 16 years old and I plan on making a life career out of the Marine Corps.

I have 2 JROTC instructors, one of them was a Gunnery Sergeant in the corps with a career of 15 years...and the other one was a Captain, with a career of 24 years. And they have both told me that I am going to be an outstanding Marine due to my physical strength, motivation, and dedication.

@@sandyr4656 Thank you. Also, I just want to say...Both of my JROTC Instructors have both said that I inspire them. I inspire 2 Marines, one of them, a Captain and the other a Gunnery Sergeant. I also impressed a Army National Guardsman at Fort Custer and he said this to me "young man, you would be good in the National Guard as you are right now" and Gunny said to me "Gallagher, you would be leading the Guard as you are now." With those kinds of compliments coming from those people, I know I'm going to do a lot of good for this country. Thank you for your support and kind words, and I will not let you or any of my fellow Americans down.

❤ awesome. My grandson commissioned into Army this April when he graduated college. He was JLC JROTC RAIDERS ROTC NATIONAL GUARD AND NOW a Lt learning how to fly helicopters. Family day is coming up and I'll be there. May be the only time we ever get to see him fly. His 1st solo was last week. He graduated presidents list in Emergency Mgmt. He has trained at Fort Knox and completed SERE. He is one hellava young man. Best of luck to you @Maddx
