I always stopped at Gwen’s for breakfast or a burger when heading to the Kasilof for Crooked creek hatchery kings or Russian river reds. To live on the Kenai takes gumption, fortitude, pure will of mind and body and a rich wife who doesn’t mind you smelling like sweat, cheap beer, and fish.

Nice, very nice video! I remember doing a rafting trip once with a bunch other rafters, the beer was quite cold. (I miss Alaska)

I worked for the phone company there 25 years ago in the summer. The company house was a beautiful log cabin right on the river. The pay phones at Gwen’s would fill up the coin boxes in a few days when the reds were running in the Russian River. First time I went there was 43 years ago.

Great memory. We first camped in Cooper Landing on beautiful Kenai Lake in 1957, 65 years ago! We later had a cabin there where we spent many a summer fishing the Russian and Kenai Rivers. Cooper Landing is truly a special place. Thank you for sharing your memory.

I love this video! I am planning on getting married in cooper landing. Where is this arch?!
@glennflothe26454 жыл бұрын
The arch was next to the ball field by the Kenai River behind the Cooper Landing Library and Community Center. Probably not there now but would be easy to make one. It probably was used for a previous wedding. Beautiful Spot.
