That "double ended lag" is called a dowell screw and the other fastener is a hanger bolt or hanger screw, at least that's what we call them round here, I like that threaded insert also and am gonna use this procedure next time I do wood balusters, thanks for the video, JBD

Thank you for sharing you knowledge. I need to attach 29" legs to the bottom of the table, and was not sure if to use just 5/16" hanger bolt or to put it into some insert or teenut. May i ask what size of the nail was used, it is #18? Thank you.

How do you drill that pilot hole so it's straight? I hand drilled my pilot hole crooked and my hanger bolt ends up crooked.

where can I buy stair treads with finished edges like we see in this vid? home depot and lowes have nothing, I've hunted on the Internet and found nothing. my stairs are open like in this vid but all I can find is unfinished edges meant to butt against other walls

Sarah Karmazin they are custom done in joinery shop. All it is is a returned nose to kill the end grain
