Күн бұрын

Today we have Kyle Thompson from the Undaunted Life Podcast join Cooper Stuff to discuss the SCOTUS nomination and her comments about not being a biologist, her record on sentencing, etc. We also discuss wider implications of this nominee on the divide in the Church. Also we offer encouragement to stand strong, never compromise, and to get involved.

John and Kyle thank you for this podcast. I’m happy to report the part relating to Pornography and the book recommended have been a major catalyst for change in my life. It has been a dark part of my life for a long time and it has been a barrier for growth. I pray for others that struggle in this area that together we can overcome it. I thank God for reaching me through these men of God!

This verse changed my life when I did what it says: "We are destroying arguments and all arrogance raised against the knowledge of God, and we are taking EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE TO THE OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST," - 2 Corinthians 10:5 When you take lustful (or any other sinful) thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ (imagine Christ watching your thoughts on a TV in front of you), it's really awkward to keep on lusting.

Awesome podcast guys! Thank you Kyle for being so blunt and calling it what it is. My church in MN is doing a series for our teens called Sexual Integrity and we are teaching our kids what those temptations are and what God says about them. Some parents wanted to shy away from the teachings, but as you stated, it's out there and we need to arm our kids with the TRUTHS! Our church is also doing a series called Conviction & Compassion and they are calling out these things that are not "politically correct" and I'm so excited they are addressing these things and standing up for truth and not steering clear of them because they are controversial. Thank you for addressing these things straight out. I don't need to feel like I'm unloving because I don't agree with same sex marriage. I can love the people, but not the sin. My 15 year old son found Skillet this year and was shocked his 50 year old mom has loved them since Sonshine Festival in Willmar, MN back in the day. I love that we have this in common and that he's following a "Christian" band. I love Skillet even more now that I've gotten to "know" John from this podcast.

Hey John, keep your eyes focused on the Lord and keep fighting. I and many others appreciate your words and your podcast so much. I look forward to your podcast coming out each week, and your band is one I feel like I can let my oldest son, who is 13, listen to and not have to wonder if he’s going to be getting any bad ideas from your music or your content. My husband and I are both half “white” and our other halves are different from each other. We both have “brown skin,” but we have both chosen to set our focus on God and have our identities firmly planted in having Jesus as our Savior. We identify as children of God first, and everything else in our lives has to come after that. Our skin color as a factor/focus/priority is so far down on the list of things we may focus on, BECAUSE of our desire to follow God’s word, that it literally does not impact our daily lives or how we regularly interpret events/topics/theology. There are a lot of people like us, people who know where their true identity comes from, and people who know where our focus needs to be. As Christians we’re all reconciled in Christ, and we’re all supposed to be one in Christ. When people who claim to be Christians are not following God’s word in this area of their lives, and instead they are focused on dividing people by their skin color and making skin color their first priority or first factor in identity, we know they are not correct. Anyway, thank you again for always sharing truth and your heart. One day my family and I would love to meet you and thank you in person.

Thank you for the conversation! 1) We need to know our identity in Christ and so many more who call themselves Christian do not. 2) We are to stand for the Kingdom of God. 3) If our skin color is more important to us and who we support, then their skin color is an idol. 4) Truth is truth and it comes from God. Our opinion is irrelevant. If you do not line up with the truth of God, you just may not be a true believer.

We live in a world that celebrates confusion and condemns clarity. They have denied the laws of the universe set in stone by our perfect Creator God and embraced the lie of "My body, my choice" in every conceivable way. When we can no longer define what a man and a woman are (both of which are precious and made in God's image), how much longer before we can no longer define "people"? You know what leaves when the definition of "people" hops out the door? The legal protection of rights. This is very serious stuff.

John's the first guy to admit it would take a minute to come up with a definition. I ask question slike this all the time, and I can tell you, the average person will struggle with defining really obvious things. WHich is why they will just look in a dictionary when pressed. But intelegent people should be able to describe general characteristics or the thing if given a chance to think for a minute. But as a judge, she should probably have already taken that minute.
@wheeler116
@wheeler116 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think she had the opportunity to take a minute to think about it. Cause it really is a complicated question when you think about it. Cause one could give a biological definition and call it a day. But there’s also a philosophical component which is more complicated. That’s where ones definition can become subjective and can come in conflict with how an lgbtq person would define it.
@acrane1100

@@wheeler116 maybe so but the fact Jackson inferred she wasn’t a biologist means she assumed Blackburn wanted the biological definition. Which is a very easy answer for someone seeking a seat on the Supreme Court.

The problem isn't even that she was too light on her sentencing. The problem is that she decided that the law is insufficient, based on her opinion of it, and decided to change it from the bench. It is not a judge's job to change or update a law via rulings! So many people are missing this point. What she admitted to to is by definition judicial activism.

I’m a pastor and I say poor nog raffi from the pulpit. I had lead a Christian 12 step group for 6 years and 80% of the men who came did so bc this addiction was destroying their lives. I started to teach my boys about the dangers of this particular evil at an early age - like 6-8 years old. That’s what parents need to do. My 10yo and I made a video to help parents step into this area and stop being timid or making it awkward to talk about. P o r n is the new h e r o i n and it’s everywhere. This is a battle we MUST get in on behalf of the upcoming generation. God bless you John. You can’t be this dedicated to Jesus and not get some hate and hurt. I’m praying for you brother. I understand your point with the Overton Window but please be careful, you started with inter-racial marriage and then went to Gay Marriage and Trans Rights. By clumping the three together it’s easy to believe they are all the same, or “all bad but getting worse”. The problem is that inter-racial marriage is NOT unbiblical while the other two are unbiblical. (I hate the term “race” it’s not real, only an idea created to divide.) Inter-religious marriage is unbiblical, but inter-ethnic is not. “All are one in Christ Jesus.”

How many minors under 12 have abused children their age or younger? I was listening to a podcast a few days ago where a woman admitted 4 10-11-year-old boys caught her alone walking home from school, they didn't like her for whatever reason, they first began to beat her up then it turned into a sexual assault where they forced their hands in her pants violating her in two ways! That was 30 years ago, think how often it happens now? The more you sexualize kids the more they think sexual acts at 10 are fine, even an adult does it because their teacher said to be and act upon what feels good to you.

Porn addiction is "the gateway" to other sexual immorality. It is such a deep seeded sin that corrupts entirely. However, I have seen God break the chains of porn and sex addiction in someone I love. There is always Hope!

Love this episode, but I have to say, Kavanagh and Barrett have sided with the liberals on more than one occasion in recent court cases.
