This unit uses a small condensate pump that should be cleaned out you have to add enzymes to the condensate pan. I think If you disassemble it to this point you are only a few screws away from exposing the pump which should be inspected for clogs but this video didn't show that step.

Finally got it up and running. The only delays we had was because we realized we needed some extra parts (I’ll list that below) kzbin.infoUgkxihMYiJNXcHdbH-7ihymsLz61l7jVyb5O . So we have a loft where our current hvac just couldn’t seem to keep cool during the summer. We have been using a window unit since we bought this house over 6 years ago (all the houses in this neighborhood were built in the 80’s and majority of the houses built like ours use a window unit). I hate window units because they are just so noisy and the one we had really only cools one side of the loft. I had contemplated upgrading our current HVAC, but with all the rising prices these days, it would take years before saving up enough to do that. With the advice of my father-in-law (used to run an HVAC business), he recommended we get an inverter instead. We thought we bought everything we needed, but there were just a few other parts we didn’t anticipate needing (which is what caused most of our delay). My friend and father-in-law did all the work to get it installed and running and now we have nice cool air circulating nicely throughout the entire loft. It is very quiet and even the outside unit is much quieter than our main HVAC unit. Saved ourselves thousands getting this.

I was looking for some help in deciphering the installation manual when I came across this video. My unit came with two extra jumper type cables which didn't make sense (since I didn't need them). This video helped me figure it out, though it's fairly simple to install, but the extra cables threw me off. This video is very well done. Question, does the display plug just pull out or does it have a disconnect tab on it. Looks like he just pulled it out by pulling on the wires.

Wow, going ductless always sounded better from an energy savings standpoint, but that's a lot of maintenance! Are all head units this bad? Using this to cool a home would need a ton of heads and the upkeep of 3-5 heads would make reselling a home very intimidating compared to simple air filter swaps (and the occasional flush) of a typical air handler. Maybe use of a single head for storage/workshops would be fine or extra capacity for a single room to kept at a separate temperature, but otherwise I'd probably stay away from ductless in a home (unless it's one big room with no doors lol). I don't want to buy separate air filtration units and dehumidifiers that will take up conditioned floorspace, so it looks like a mechanical room, basement, or conditioned attic with an air handler (maybe HRV/ERV and dehumidifier too) and ducts is still the way to go... dang.

Just 2 suggestions for the next generation, First, maybe have the 5 screws black or another color that stands out. Second maybe an intermediate cable that allows for one disconnect for the sensors instead of disconnecting all 4 one at a time.

I got a unit just like this installed to my home (Model CH-FC030K2). I wonder is it normal that it makes a loud motor like noise that has nothing to do with the fan? The noise is constant with all the fan speeds, and even continues for a minute after the device is turned off and the fan has already stopped completely. I'm just wondering what else besides the fan motor is there inside to make the noise?

Is cleaning cassette units usually a messy job? Some geniuses put one in a server room directly above the servers and it needs cleaning but no one will touch it because the equipment in that room is super expensive and they don't want to be held liable

It doesn't have to be a messy job. Frequently cleaning could mean that each cleaning can require less water/coil cleaner and, therefore, less risk of a mess. It would certainly be wise, either way, to cover any fragile equipment with a large waterproof tarp for good measure.

I had a P5 error code on a Mitsubishi ceiling cassette installed on 10-06-2020 and when I removed the condensate drain pan there was a lot of slime at the bottom of the pump preventing it to remove the condensation. The filter is cleaned often. I have cleaned the slime and it is working now but now trying to figure how to get clorox in drain pan yearly to prevent a re-accurence.

You can research the code on mitsubishi Web site and fix the problem via a a/c dealer or buy it online, since you scrap it yourself then you can go the distance and repair it yourself. When you found the slime in the drainpan, it meant it wasn't serviced often or very poorly, in the islands, we service every 4-6 months.

In the end shots the interconnecting wire was not mounted under the strain relief. And it would be better to use some spades instead of bare copper under the terminals when installing such a unit.

Hello P van der Kleijn! Great attention to detail! Our communication cable is held into place by a strain relief before it reaches the terminal. And, fortunately, our units are designed so that you're able to connect wires with or without spades. Definitely couldn't hurt to use them, though!

We definitely don't recommend using a pressure washer on ceiling cassette units. It's bound to result in a huge mess and risky having so much uncontrolled fluid around the electrical components.

@@CooperandHunterusa hi I'm from trinidad and Tobago, our service for cassette unit are to scrap everything ie:remove filter, electrical, drainpan Blower wheel,disconnect the drainline from the pump, jus leaving the Blower motor in place, attach a cassette service bag that is suspended under the unit via hooks and adjustable strings the bag shape like a cone a drain off line is connected to it's base, put coil cleaner on coil and flaps/swing on facing n filters, use adjustable pressure washer or small washer on parts n coil, securing the Blower motor with a bag tucked around and wedge behind motor, flush drainline and secure back onto the pump,dry the unit and reassemble. Left working properly. When I come across a service, 1 soon I would upload our service.

very clear instruction, but why not removing the water catchment sink as one cannot access the outer side of the coil and only cleaning one side of the coil.... especially when you are not using a water pressure sprayer, it's difficult to clean both sides by only cleaning from the inside.

Hi Henry, the simple answer is that we didn't clean the outside of the coil because it was not dirty. Since the inside is the return side, it's the part that needs most maintenance. So, it really depends on the application. In regards to the pressure washer, this isn't as necessary if you use a good chemical coil cleaner. This method also saves a lot of mess, comparatively.

@@henrymug Good question! As we mentioned, this was a basic cleaning to our unit, which was not very dirty. If you're cleaning a lot of dust, etc, from your coil we would recommend the same approach. Brush the coils downward into the drain pan and continue to clean that way, to avoid a big mess. Then, when the coil is clean, remove the drain pan and clean that component separately. Reassemble, and you're good to go!

Yes, there is a pump which removes the water, but what was left in the pan is residual drainage.

That unit has a condensate pump built in, during the servicing, the hose was supposed to be disconnected and flushed, the line would have slime/slush buildup along it a back pressure would cause a error code for the pump, stop unit functioning and drip water from the unit.

Curious what kind of smell a dirty coil causes. My ceiling unit on cool smells faintly ike a car heater coil overheating. I sprayed coil cleaner but the smell persists. The cooling and heating are the same for 2 years but it always gives off an unpleasant smell on cool. This video will help do a deeper clean. Thanks.

The smell depends entirely on the surrounding atmosphere as, obviously, the unit itself does not create a scent. If you're concerned about the smell, we'd suggest calling an HVAC technician to come out and service your unit.

Side note: one of my units started making a loud buzzing sound inside the area where the electrical components are. Is that a common problem with the 4 way cassettes?

@@CooperandHunterusa after I had the fan out (which the company I hired never removed to clean the unit properly) I could see dirt still caked on the coil and they had bent the coil in places as well because the guy stuck a sprayer wand up there. I’ll never hire it done as long as I’m able to do it. I have before and after pictures and should request a refund.
