Finally getting back into extract brewing so, my next beer is a Coopers Stout, just a plain old stout no extra additions and using tap water of course I add half a Camden tablet just to help with reducing chemicals in municipal water.

Fantastic video and very informative, thank you! I've recently brewed my own beer for the first time and wish I'd watched this first! I think i was being too cautious waiting for the no rinse sanitiser to dry and only used 1 bag of yeast. I have the camden tablets but forgot to use one. For my next brew i shall be trying to add some extra flavours, this first one has a bitter aftertaste and isn't that pleasant (I used the Simply Export Stout extract). It also feels too carbonated even though i only used half a teaspoon (500ml bottle).

The Coopers Stout is one of my favourites and even when brewed simply, beats many other kit stouts available in the UK. I do like adding a little coffee and wood chips to mine and always brew it short to give it more umph . Good video.

Funny you should say that, I believe it is finished and it has only been a week. Since I started fermentation. I just checked it and is at 1.015fg I will check it tomorrow and see the results. Looks really good and I am looking forward to drinking it. I would have liked to use a different yeast for more control on the fermentation but unfortunately I didn't have any.

I will shortly be making this www.geterbrewed.com/coffee-milk-stout-ingredient-kit/ but don't know anything about coffee. The recipe says to add 1 litre of your favourite ground coffee at whirlpool. I was thinking of using a cold press to avoid bitter coffee & only want a background coffee flavour. What coffee do you use or do you have any suggestions?

The tilt was the first real wireless hydrometer that only works with Bluetooth. It is quite small and reliable. I will look into a video for this product but it's a little old these days that's why I haven't done it.

Hi Mark, I used a standard Dry Malt Extract from my brew shop it is just a single grain malt 1kg nothing special about it just a plain malt extract. Cheers Hope you love the hobby Pierre

Could you do it without the malt extract? just the can?.
@SimpleHomeBrew
@SimpleHomeBrew 11 ай бұрын
Yes, if you do it this way you will reduce the amount of alcohol produced and also mouth feel will be a little less prevalent. You can add 1kg of dextrose to it to get a better fermentation. Just the same you can just use the one can it should turn out fine.

Hi Clon, I don't know what you mean by jar extract! and it most certainly can be bottled in a 3 litre bottle providing you put the appropriate amount of finishing sugars in it. Use about 3g per 350ml for a stout.
