We prepare this chutney during jackfruit season. We used to mix the seeds with mud and dry them and store for rainy season. Either dry roast them or put them in embers, roast and eat. Feels divine

Roasted jackfruit seeds are yum. We would put in the embers of the chulha in the village. Tasted remarkably like roasted chestnuts, a winter treat in London!

In Assam, we boil and also roast the jackfruit seed to make a similar chutney/ pitika. We also enjoy the jackfruit seeds cooked with lentils. Tastes like sweet potato chunks with texture 😊

Adding Neem flower to sweet dishes is such a good idea. This way of making deserts is boon for diabetic patients. From now onwards, I will add crushed Neem leaves into my sweet dishes. This way, I can enjoy my deserts with Neem's qualities. Our ancestors were great cooks n added all ingredients which were healthy for mind n body. Bow to all our Ancestors 🙏

For Ugaadi, we Kannadigas make panaka, which is made from keri, jaggery with neem flowers in it, to symbolize the sweet-sour-bitter facts of life.

@@roshanibabuJust wanted to ask you what Keri is in English. I'm looking to try the recipe.

@@deeptiranganathan9438 Keri or kairi is unripe mangoes or baby mangoes. You cook then whole yo extract sour juice out of it and add jaggery to adjust for sweetness, along with cardamom, pepper powder and garnish it with neem flowers.
