Yes, the other familiar faces are Michael Rappaport and Robert Patrick. You will probably also recognize Peter Berg. A very good yet, intense Peter Berg directed movie you might consider is "The Kingdom" from 2007. It has a very recognizable cast also.

Great choice. After Stallone was "cornered" into the simple muscle-packed action star stereotype over the 80s and early 90s, this was a great reminder how good of a actor Stallone really is, when he can play serious roles. Not an easy task to hold your own against heavy hitters like De Niro, Keitel, Liotta etc. Unfortunately that movie never received the recognition it would have deserved.

Great reaction, There are some fun-facts about this movie. Originally, Ray Liotta wanted the role of Sheriff Freddy Heflin, while Sylvester Stallone wanted the role of Gary "Figgsy" Figgis. Two deleted scenes primarily show the racism in the town of Garrison. One scene involves all the resident police officers chasing down a pair of black motorists, and the other shows Heflin's deputy pointing out that the majority of the tickets issued in Garrison go to black motorists on charges that suggest racial profiling. Robert De Niro improvised the sandwiches in his scene, which were an afterthought. Although it is stated during in the credits that the movie isn't based on a true story, James Mangold did grew up in Washingtonville, New York, which was a place where lots of policemen's families lived. In an interview, he mentioned that the film was based on his experiences of growing up in his hometown among the many children of these cops. Keep up the good work.

Coby, have you ever seen the 1988 action-comedy movie "Midnight Run" with Robert DeNiro? (and Charles Grodin. Yaphet Kotto, John Ashton, Dennis Farina, and Joe Pantoliano). DeNiro plays a bounty hunter who is trying to bring Charles Grodin (mob accountant) in to his bail bondsman for jumping bail. Meanwhile, Yaphet Kotto leads an FBI team pursuing Grodin, while Dennis Farina leads the mobsters, and John Ashton (from Beverly Hills Cop I & II) is contracted by bail bondsman Joe Pantoliano to also hunt down Grodin since DeNiro is apparently screwing up this quick job (a "midnight run'). unfortunately the movie was rated not very high, some critics were not so good, but for me it's a top 20 or top 30 movie. The topic is nothing special, but the characters showed interesting variations how to go through the troubles of the real society and all the sumbling stones in your life and a lot of that was expressed in iconic sayings. Etc. And the music and vibes of the early 90ies (when I was a young adult), I like just to get this atmosphere. Movies are sometimes not about the craziest story or super special acting, but about the atmosphere all in all. It's getting even better, when you watched it a couple of times. Not many youtubers reacted to it, good you did.

The difference between a Sheriff and a Police Officer is that Police Officers hired by a municipality must meet standards set by the city. A Sheriff is an ELECTED position and the Sheriff can hire anyone he pleases as long as, like him, they are certified Law Enforcement officers. Usually, thats all the requirements to be hired as a deputy. Now, in Texas, anyone holding a Law Enforcement certification must meet the standards set by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) to KEEP that certification so cops in Texas are always attending one class or another.

Hi Coby. This is my favorite Stallone movie. Three late 1960s, early 1970s crime movies worth checking out: Bonnie and Clyde with Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty. It was very controversial when it first came out in 1967 because of the naturalistic portrayal of the violence in it and the somewhat sympathetic portrayal of antihero criminals, which shocked audiences and film critics at the time. The French Connection, 1971, starring a young Gene Hackman is a drug bust movie worth a look. The last one is Bullitt, 1968, starring Steve McQueen as a San Francisco cop and features probably the most famous car chase scenes in American cinema. One more thing, as a De Niro fan you might want to check out Meet the Parents if you haven't seen it yet. It's a comedy and De Niro is great as a way too overprotective father. His creepiest role is in Cape Fear, playing a a deranged ex con out for revenge.

And then he plays the disrespected sheriff between all those critically-acclaimed Hollywood legends who play these complacent cops who think that they are untouchable.
