If you are a fan of Sylvester Stallone you would enjoy it. Have to watch it a few times to get down the movie, it’s definitely an underrated Stallone thriller and one of his darker non Rambo/Rocky films as so many people associated him with. It wasn’t a successful movie at box office but became a cult hit later.

De Niro's performance is fine. Everybody does a great job. But it is Stallone and Liotta that stand out, mainly Stallone. It is his finest performance other than Rocky. What makes this so great it its complex story that is suspenseful and humane.

If you haven't watched it yet go for the Director's Cut on Blu Ray.. it's bloody fantastic. Theatrical Cut's fine too but the ordering's different in some main scenes and is 12 minutes shorter which kinda hurts it. The ending though of the T cut's much better than the D Cut's.
