It's not always an issue for Black men to just take police overstepping their authority. I'm proudly dark as the night with a decades long history of being stopped and harrassed, and you still have to stand your ground. My nephew was pulled over in Tampa some time ago for a tail light being out. I was in the passenger seat. Each of the two officers proceeded to demand my ID repeatedly. I had been recording and refused to provide them with identification or answer any questions. I directed my nephew to comply with them relative to the tail light and refused to engage the officers any further. They seemed pissed but left me alone after I made it clear that I would call 911 on law enforcement and upload the encounter. My nephew, a grown man of 37 was terrified for me, and I realize it could have ended up being a lot worse, but at some point, you have to say "This is the limit; this is MY privilege; I'm not your child, your husband/ wife, your subordinate, or your pet." Do your job and give him his ticket. We owe officers MUTUAL respect and the courtesy due to any fellow human being, but if you are not violating any law, you don't owe the police or any public official any special deference. Extend Respect, Command Respect.

@americaninsurgent4403
@americaninsurgent4403 3 жыл бұрын
@Brady Lane I don’t know what you’re talking about there but what I’m taking about is when you come from that history you have less choices than someone who didn’t. When you’re not allowed to build generational wealth like everyone else then you enter a cycle of poverty. What you might look at as someone being personally irresponsible might be them doing what they have to do to survive. To dismiss it as simple not having personal responsibility is disregarding too many other factors. The way you think about it is extremely simple minded and lazy. You’re not taking personal responsibility to think a tiny bit deeper than that corny garbage sarcasm you just spewed. Follow your own advice and take the responsibility to do some research and learn.
@americaninsurgent4403
@americaninsurgent4403 3 жыл бұрын
@@MaskOfCinder If you’re put into a situation that breeds poverty dating back to being thrown into ghettos after slavery with very limited rights then your descendants will also have a very rough time. Becoming a criminal or doing a criminal act is not just down to personal responsibility but it’s down to the choices you’re afforded in life. Some people don’t need to rob because their ancestors were given full rights to vote, own homes, own land etc then passed that down to their children. A lot of those rights weren’t afforded to black people so their opportunity is limited. Mix that in with over policing their communities then you have a cycle of poverty that breeds crime. Then simpletons like you get in the net and pretend it’s just black people and their choices. Very stupid and shallow minded to think that way.

Their in it for themselves.. look at it this way the politicians have the police as their slaves doing their dirty work. Oppressing the people. And as a small payback or bonus beat a civilian. (Power trip) and then the police (the fool) gets caught abusing a citizen... gets sent to prison making the mayor or some politician looking good... oh look it's a circle.... you get the picture now... just a ruff draft of corruption

@@CDiesel720 I agree and I believe he was doing it quite purposely to make his point. Its exactly how cops treat the person ,exactly how they speak to them. Make no mistake this cop knew exactly who he is & has probably been given the hands off this guy warning by his superiors. I sure as hell wouldn't want to try unless certain circumstances were present and it would be an extremely dangerous thing for most anyone to try but for an average black person it could definitely be a death sentence.

Thankfully I suggested she look at my fone that was in my bag, which showed her the last time I used it & that was like 20 mins prior to being pulled over. These cops especially if you are driving a nice ride while being Black. She asked me where I was going then had no frigging choice that to let me go, but it was nerve racking.

You bring up an interesting subject. One does not HAVE to say where u r going. I guess one could say "I dont know where I'm going. I havent decided."......or......"No where.....I'm just out for a drive". Just a thought. You'd have to say it with a totally innocent demeanor. "I'm just out for a drive......doing some thinking.....listening to the radio".
