@@Kragum24 "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend". "Zoe's Extraordinary Playlist". Arguably, "Glee". I just think it was a bridge too far to make it a musical and a police drama. But one of the most poignant moments in the whole show came when a woman was singing as she was selling her baby on the black market. It had its moments; just too bizarre for most, who probably signed on to watch another "Hill Street Blues" and saw...this.

Whoever managed to get this show the green light could sell snow to a Eskimo I bet you
@TRCaimbeul Жыл бұрын
I'm betting there was some "snow" involved for all of the execs involved. It was the last days of the '80s when it was approved, after all. But the guy they approved it for (Steven Bochco) was a major hitmaker (NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues, LA Law and Doogie Howser, M.D.) so...they bet on his knowing what he was doing. It wasn't like people didn't warn him. Randy Newman, who did the music for the pilot, said it would never work. Mike Post, who was also involved, told him not to do it, but later went on record saying he was weirdly proud of it. Bochco, himself, was never embarrassed by the show and claimed it was a highlight of his career, and many other people involved still hold it up as one of their successes because it challenged the norms. It had a viewership of 9 million when it was cancelled, which is nothing to sneeze at. It was basically putting on a mini Broadway musical every week...a major challenge. In the end though, after only 11 episodes, the execs had had enough, and pulled the plug.
@downhamrex15358 жыл бұрын
I threw a lot of kleenex balls at the screen during the first episode, and to be fair, probably during the second as well. Shortly thereafter, I began to realize just how awesome it was.
