it's not overdue, it's actually happening far faster than widely projected. I'm not sure if it's gotten fully ice-free yet, but it has certainly gotten very close to it, and very navigable in the summer. there are composite videos of the arctic sea ice over the last couple of decades, the summer coverage is at least 80% smaller in area than it was half a century ago. arctic ice is a terrible example to make a climate change denial claim on, it's probably the most obvious proof of warming.

A cooling period is expected in 2045. The earth appears to be following patterns of warming and cooling which aren't exactly synchronised so it's hard to predict accurately.
