Derek Bush prob had it done at a jiffy lube and they used non Honda fluid.. so I agree either fresh fluid and filter with Honda fluid or a solenoid could be sticking

You cant check the transmission fluid when the engine is running on a Honda. To properly check the level park car on level surface turn off engine when completely warm and check the level within 60-90seconds after shutting off the car after the initial wipe and reinsert of the dipstick of course.

When you change the transmission fluid, DO NOT power flush the trans!!!! That is the worst thing you can do to a trans, it forces tiny bits of dirt or metal shavings into tight areas that can later cause blockage or even damage. What I did to mine was warm it up and do a fluid change, warm it up change a 2nd time, warm it up, change a 3rd time. This process takes a little bit of time, but you change at least 95% of the fluid. That Accord is a Gen 7, mine is a Gen 8, I'm not sure about the Gen 7's, but the Gen 8's (at least with the 2.4 L 4 cylinder engine) DO NOT have a trans filter, they only have what is called a screen that Honda recommends that it is not to be replaced unless it is leaking, or the transmission has to be removed from the car. That Honda is sure money! I have a 2005 Honda Accord EX-L daily driver with 4 cylinder engine that has 264,950 miles and still runs like brand new! It’s properly maintained, of course. 😊

@@jimmyboyles2868 I had two, one we drove almost 20 years, 193k miles no issue. My 1st one 99 V6 went 253k miles before I traded on a newer car. Never had transmission issues because we changed the fluid at least every 40k miles and Honda fluid only.

Man idk what you talking about bro.. you found a hidden gem.. you scored in this ride ... you fix the window clean up the interior a bit clean up the wheels an exterior buff out that bumper you can get 3K for it guaranteed.. dont you let that go for no 1,500... those Vtecs will go 400k... the transmissions are notorious for going out but it seems like it worked itself out once it got warmed up... my step dad flipped cars my whole life so I've been around the game for sure...dont let that car go for 1500.. love your channel .. hit me up on your thoughts

Change the fluid with proper Honda ATF and clean the shift solenoids. I had the same issue on my 99 Civic, a good fluid change and cleaning the shift solenoid screens and making sure they functioned properly cleared up 95% of my problems. The other 5% was from ti having 300k miles on it.

I had a 98 accord with the 4 cylinder and the transmission did the same thing when it was cold. Got worse and worse over the years to the point it would slip and I'd have to pull over. Parked it for a year and then sold it for 800 bucks and apparently that fixed it haha. It's still driving around my state. I don't know if it's still slipping like it was but it did it from 80k miles on. Had about 180k when I sold it.

Both of them are pretty good radios. I have serviced a Kenwood like that one in the past. I know that radio on the inside fairly well. I'm not looking to get something for nothing either.
