So the Alfa Rmeo Giuletta is now arrived and in this video we look of it. Why was it unrecorded, why did it have no keys and are there big problems with it or did I get myself a bargain?

When I first listened to the motor spinning over I would have put money on cambelt failure. Glad it fired up and sounds sweet for you . Looks a decent car and wheels refurbed would make it stand out.

I really appreciated all your help the other day, it's good to have a community to call upon. Definitely a decent set of refurbished alloys would set it off nicely.

@12:58 1500 quid, great deal. 😊 Unless off course, the Multiair unit is in jeopardy. Swapping it would set you back almost just as much.

Should know soon once the clutch is sorted and hopefully there won't be too many issues....well none hopefully!

Thanks. Out of my hands now. All down to the clutch.

Glad you got the keys sorted, as well as that pesky ‘I didn’t see the bollard behind me when I backed in’ ding - on the first several spins I though the starter motor pin might have been stuck in (and also the same thought as Richard that it might be cambelt) but glad she fires - agree that the best action for the clutch is to ‘send ‘er in Keep us posted

I do not really know what was holding it back from starting first off. It took nearly 10 cranks to get it fire in the end. But was worried about it being a big bill if it was clutch and cambelt. There is just no room in the engine bay and trying to get it out is so difficult. Hopefully the garage won't fleece me for labour costs!

I bought a similar car, had keys but clutch pedal on floor. I removed the gearbox to find no clutch. I think what had happened was the car was stolen, clutch burnt out, insurance paid for repairs but found after replacing clutch, gearbox was also damaged and decided to write it off. The garage must of removed the new clutch before sending it to the salvage yard. Good luck with the Alfa

Not what I wanted to read!!!! :) I believe it's all there ...it's where the issue is, that's the problem. Stolen cars either sit up and don't get used and then get recovered or they get ragged and clutch take big hits, especially manual gearboxes.

Let's hope the the clutch is is not to expensive apart from that you could have a winner. You did not mention the miles it had done. 👍👍

Oh yeh, good point. Showing as 47200. Hope that it's just a slave or master cylinder gone that's all.

That was just the Multiair unit having drained of oil over time. Usually takes a few weeks for it drain that much… Once oil was pumped back in it could start opening the inlet valves. The left wiper is in the wrong position, move it down a spline or two on the spindle.

It was likely to have been parked up for months I think. Hopefully no damage caused by the draining of oil. It seems to run ok now, but you never know of the damage.

@@carsalvage101 No, it will be perfectly fine. It’s quite normal and there’s a section in the handbook that says after prolonged periods of not being started it can take a while to fire and to jsut keep cranking until the Multiair assembly primes itself again.

A handbook left in the car probably would have been handy! :)

I'd think the easy option would be to try bleeding clutch because cars been sat about may just need a good bleed

There is a possibility there is a leak somewhere that needs to be looked at. It's just getting to the master cylinder is so difficult.

Shame about the clutch, would have given you loads more profit. There is always something with blind bidding at copart. Marks on the glass look like somebody had a lighter against the glass well lit. Odd people about. All the best 👍

Sorry I thought I had replied. I've seen an increase in the amount of cars where people smoke in them. I had been lucky but now it seems every car! Hoping it's just a cylinder rather than the clutch itself.

Big risks big rewards at least it wasn't the engine 😉

True, hopefully once the clutch is sorted, the engine can be fully tested to make sure it's ok.

Was always going to be mechanical damage either someone deemed it too expensive for them to have done or couldnt afford it.Either way i think you got away lightly as could have been cambelt or multiair unit.If it was stolen it would have been recorded
@carsalvage101
@carsalvage101 2 жыл бұрын
Yeh its unlikely to be stolen. Whether it ended up in Poland is another thing aswell. Hopefully the clutch is reasonably cheap and hopefully there are no other dramas.
