as a owner of a 2018 volt i'm so glad to have one first gen on your video TX .To unlock the charge door there is an unlock button on the left side door. the second generation has none. the car will not start because its non a battery saving mode because of the long storage. When you start a volt with the hood open the motor usualy start right on because it think its in a service mode, But when the hood is closed it runs all electric, That one is a bit out of order but it cat be fixed i guess,

Good morning Randy. The Ford Excursion is a good looking SUV even though the front clip is missing but it's got parts inside of it. The 1993 Ford F150 XLT is a decent looking truck even though it's got aftermarket headlights and needing paint.

The Volt was a Plug in hybrid (PHEV) but more accurately Chevrolet/GM called it an E-REV…..Extended Range Electric Vehicle. There were two generations. The 2011-2016 like this red one was Gen1, and 2017-2020ish Gen 2. I owned a 2011 Gen1, bought new in March 2011. It’s been my daily driver until a couple months ago (December 2023). The Gen1 had a 16 kWh Li-Ion high voltage battery, with about 10kWh useable, so it had a big buffer on the top and bottom end. It has a 1.4 liter 4 cylinder engine based on the EcoTech Family 0 engine. It has two MGU (motor/generator units) housed inside of the transaxle assembly. MGU-a is a smaller 50ish Kw motor that acts as a starter to started the ICE, a generator when the ICE us running to generated electricity to feed back into the battery and feed the larger traction motor. MGU-B is a 110 kW traction motor which is the main propulsion motor to the front wheels. The Volt is FWD. The Volt has a J1772 plug that can charge from a L1 or L2 wall unit. Its maximum charge rate is 3.3 kW from a 240V AV 13 amp EVSE. The Volt can also charge from a 120 15A regular wall socket, which will charge at about 1.5 kW. From a 120V wall outlet, it will take approximately 8 to 10 hours to charge from empty to full. From a 240VAC Level 2, it will take about 3.5 hours to full charge. The Gen1 Volt can drive fully electric for about 30-40 ish miles full electric only on battery burning zero gasoline. It will drive full electric all the way to its maximum 100 MPH, and it will stay full electric even if the accelerator pedal is pressed to the floor with full acceleration. It will drive full electric if cabin heat or air conditioning is activated. Once the 30-40 miles is exhausted from the battery, the 1.4 combustion engine will turn on and feed power to the battery and MGU-B traction motor and will allow the car to continue to drive for another 300 ish miles. A Volt can drive coast to coast with just filling the 9 gallon gasoline tank every 300 ish miles. Or the Volt can drive for MONTHs with NEVER using any gasoline as long as it drives less than 30-40 miles between fully charging. There you go.

Traded in a '12 i-MiEV for a '14 Volt 4 years ago, thereby going from the worst car I ever owned to the best. If the 12v starter battery and main drive battery pack both had a decent charge in them, your experience could've been so much better.

So to get the gas engine to fire up besides driving. 1) can power it on and simply pop the hood from closed. 2) go to the driving modes on the dash and move it to mountain.

The volt is not a “Hybrid”… it’s actually an EV with range extender technically… the motor can’t drive the car directly.. it just charges the battery so it can keep going. But with 170+ yeah the battery is probably shot but good news it’s rebuildable/replaceable

The high voltage battery needs a charge and the starting of the gas engine is done using the HV battery. Charge the high voltage battery and then try to start it. It should get well over 20 miles range EV mode.

The engine of the Volt should come on just by having the hood open with the ignition on. It's a safety feature so nobody starts reaching into a hybrid engine that normally with the hood closed would cycle on and off.

I would re evaluate that excursion. Looks like an easy fix, but seriously. Look a bit closer! The Volt, unless it’s nearly free I would stay clear of it. Too many very expensive things to go wrong!

hi can you look at white ford mondeo ? time in video 3:56. -> more text you press a button in the door to open the charging hatch on the chevrolet volt and to start the engine you press the mode button. that it warned about the charging system is that you have to change the charging connector in the car because that's how it was on my car
