PDE4 inhibitors are primarily used to treat inflammatory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), as well as psoriasis and eczema. They have anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative effects. They are also used in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and cognitive disorders. Some examples of PDE4 inhibitors include: Apremilast (Otezla) Roflumilast (Daliresp) Cilomilast (Ariflo) Piclamilast (L-004119) It is important to note that PDE4 inhibitors may have potential side effects, and some of them may interact with other medications. Therefore, it is important to discuss with a healthcare professional before starting treatment with PDE4 inhibitors. In addition to their anti-inflammatory effects, PDE4 inhibitors also have immunomodulatory effects, which means they can affect the activity of the immune system. They can also have effects on cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival, which is why they are being studied as potential treatments for a variety of conditions such as cancer, Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis.
