It would be nice as it's an Iron man suit an Iron electroplating. I know it could be done but I can't find reaction conditions to do it

You can add other metals to it yes. However every metal needs its own version of the solution. The chemicals in the solution are designed to bond and then transport them from electrode to plate. You can coat the copper with tin and get a bronze etc.. but each metal needs a particular solution for best results. Many jewelers use nickel, silver and gold in layers. All 3 are a different solution.

As rogwabbit says, you'd nee different solutions, but once the first layer of copper is down than it becomes far easier to lay over since copper is more conductive than graphite powder.

With a homemade plasma vapor deposition chamber in theory you could alternate between dissimilar metals or ceramics to build many layers to strengthen plastic .

I don't know, I've seen some "home made" and They are small and not as easy to setup as an electroforesis bath. Nikel coating as original plan looks to me more "doable"

Alex lab is probably gonna be the first person to make a full iron man suit with all the different stuff that one has because literally no one has gotten to this point yet the repulsor’s are on point he had literally made a reactor and has made the muscle he has a helmet and some other armor pieces all you gotta do now is put armor, make it bulletproof and make it fly. Maybe you could even add the extra thrusters and the guns and stuff but that not the main thing anyways. Well i’m rooting on you Alex labs. I’m a fan of your work and I’ve always wanted to be a engineer it’s my dream so your my inspiration. So do your best on your work

Awesome! As a tip, soaking the plastic parts in saturated KOH will nano-etch them, and cause way better bonding of graphite varnish to the surface. There is actually a method that just uses the KOH without graphite to cause the surface to accept metal plating too.

@@2001herne yes, it's an excellent etchant for most plastics. It's often used as an etchant for electroless nickel plating. You can also use sodium hydroxide in theory, but it's not used as much commercially.

10:00 If you use ABS you can just smoothen the part with acetone which will make the part look like a resin 3d print.

Great video. The problem I see to this method is that thicker the copper coverage is bigger is detail loss (that means more post processing efforts) . When seing it it came to my mind one idea to obtain detailed weldable copper parts. As most of your parts are shell-like, why not 3dprinting a mold and electroform the inner part with copper? you should be able to obtain this way full thickness copper part, the esternal part will be the one in contact to the mold and could be separated simply heating the part itself, and you should have really good reproduction of the mold itself on external part while the inner par of the mold will have loss of detail (but that seeems a good trade off to me) .
