Copper Mine Falls - 2023 Ep 56

In the last week I've gotten the Parrot Anifi drone up in the air a few times. I'm feeling a little rusty and flying in close quarters is always risky especially when you can't get a good GPS fix when you are in a ravine. This 60' water falls is just a 7 min. walk in from the parking lot at the start of the Copper Mine Trail near York Harbour in Newfoundland. For about 10 years in the early 1900s ore was taken out of the mountain here to be shipped to France (I think) for processing. The shaft is well sealed up to prevent anyone from adventuring into it.

You could get your head in over the barrier when I first lived there. I wouldn't trust the shafts. Don't know if they could ever be made safe but they did 3 or 4 seasons taking copper out of that mountain in the early 1900s. I don't think they had any reported cave ins.

A good morning to ask. My Mini Mate is at least 20 yrs old. Last night I had driving rain and high winds. MM fine. I am dry. The tarp that was over the picnic table got shredded.

At the end of July, when there is not quite as much water coming down and it's a touch warmer, one can get into that pool, only 3' deep and semi under the falls. There had been a lot of rain the few days before this flight.
