Copper Sink Care - Carnauba Wax works!

I live one block from the beach on the west coast and everything either rusts or rots. I use marine grade wax on everything metal and helps significantly! I have copper gutters and used Maas metal polisher followed by a protective coat of Everclear. Even in the harsh outdoor environment it stays shiny for years. My 2 cents.

How long did the waxed sink stay shiny and clean looking?

It lasts about 3 to 4 weeks. Using it maybe 5 times a day.

Ketchup works wonders! You coat your sink with ketchup you leave it on for a while and wash it off.

Good thinking! Hot sauce, ketchup, all are acidic and will take that layer of oxidation off. 😁❤️

But it will oxidize quickly again unless you treat it with the wax or similar substance

How long does the carniba wax last on the sink? can I still use hot water? Also, will it cause damage and deposit of wax in my drain pipes?

It's been lasting a couple months before I feel like it needs it again. The amount of wax is so minimal that even over years there's should not be enough to build up in pipes. Especially because the very small amount would be emulsified with the soap you use to wash hands... And wouldn't act as a wax anymore. Yes hot water is fine. Continuous hot water every day might just mean you reapply a few weeks more often. Enjoy!

Use your fingers to apply it is 100% carnauba- and great for your cuticles.

I love copper, and I have TWO copper sinks, three if you count the kitchen sink as double. I also have a copper gas fireplace front. I've been looking for a way to keep them shinier. I wondered if carnauba wax is non-toxic, and it is in its pure form. I ordered some of the pure stuff since I want to use it on my kitchen sink.

Hey there! Greetings to a fellow copper lover! Most of the wax gets wiped off. I wouldn't prepare food on the waxed surface, especially hot, greasy food, as that is the kind that would pick up any residual wax. I'm not convinced that there would be any significant toxicity with it, either, but it's always best to be careful. (I do have human toxicology training, believe it or not) 🤗😁 The kind I used had some type of cleaning chemical in it. It's not pure caranuba wax. So you may need to use a little vinegar to clean yours first. There best I can say is try it out and let us know how it worked! Cheers ☺️
