ooh man i wish you lived close to the central US id love to borrow a little of your time to help me condense down some of the copper ive been saving through my electrical apprenticeship. one day i hope to hobby smelt and not just sell what i have just for the sake of saving space. do you know roughly how much a machine like this would cost?

So how do you separate the copper from the insulation? Use a sluice box?
@Lucy-ye2kc7 ай бұрын
Hey bro,we have dry copper granulator,can separate copper and plastic powder
@victormgv3 жыл бұрын
How? How do you separate that? I’m mesmerized by these videos now, but I’ll be damned if I understand how the shaker part makes the plastic go one way and the copper the other way lol
@hobbyscrapper35763 жыл бұрын
I use a different system to separate the copper. I use a homemade water sluice. The plastic floats and the copper sinks so it does a good job. I will be making videos of this in the near future.
@mart10442 жыл бұрын
Really you can dump a bucket in a big rubber made tub of water and scoop out plastic with a net all the copper will sink.

everyone is asking about the granulator but where do you get the copper wire from? I wanted to buy scrap copper wire from my local scrap yards but I don't think thats possible.

I get mine for scraping and some yards will sell but not many

Power needed will eat up any profit from stripping, no?
@hobbyscrapper35763 жыл бұрын
It will some but it just depends on what I’m selling the copper for. I do this as a hobby so I’m not really looking for a lot of profit. I just enjoy it 😁

Free wire- run an electric motor for an hour($2?) = 20kg? Clean copper = roughly $200. In otherwords electricity is almost nothing.

It does work nice for that stuff. You can look for one at a machine auction or shop sale. That’s where we got this one

@@hobbyscrapper3576 have seen some ads for smaller ones (100kg/hr, 240v) in Australian machinery listings- they still asking 8k secondhand and not sure if they seperate the copper. New enerpat that size that seperates also is 10k. Will have to buy a cheap lathe and make one.
