The previous owner put copper coat on my boat 10-years ago and it performed nicely. I just reapplied it last year and so far, so good. I had watched your other videos before I applied it and that really help.

Yes...making sure you know how to do it is KEY. Smiles, Kim

Using your videos (and a few others) I applied CC to our 38ft powerboat last spring with the help from my daughters and a few friends. I couldn't be more pleased. It was a tough few days prepping and applying but was worth it. I did a quick scrub while it was in the water mid summer and upon haulout in November the bottom was like new after a light power wash. In comparison to all the other boat bottoms I can see near me in the marina I made the right choice.

It's a great product except for the fact that no one can install it so it works. I'll pass on all that. Thank you for your reporting.

Hey Vincent - there are loads of people that have had a positive experience but you don't hear about them. The product is excellent. It's worth getting, but you need to know how to get it done correctly. Kim

I’m in my 8th year of Coppercoat. 👍 Your wrong however if you think you only have to wash it and put it back in the water. You need to brace it or using very light sand paper, you need to go all over the boat now before putting it back in.
@Sailingbritican2 жыл бұрын
Do you do that every year? Or every five years or....? Since we've had it working we have never sanded it and it works just as it did upon the initial 'working' application. Smiles, Kim

@@Sailingbritican sorry for the slow response I on,y just noticed your question. I was doing it every year with pull out for routine winter maintenance but now I do it every second year. The instructions do state it should be a braided regularly. It’s what exposes the copper.

The product may work when properly applied, but doesn’t seem like it’s worth the hassle compared to other options. That’s my take away from all this. Glad the folks at Copper Coat were willing to help you out, even though it appears it wasn’t technically their problem.
@dutchglobetrotter45132 жыл бұрын
CC works and it is worth every penny, it's way more environmentally friendly and saves big bucks in the long time. It just all comes down to how it is applied.
@drjasper1002 жыл бұрын
If done properly, it’s very much worth it. Mine is in its 8th year. Self applied.

Realy? I'm responsible to supervise the application? I'm a businessman that owns a 64 ft MY how in the world do I know if it's done right or not? my job is to pay for it. Copper coats job is to provide a list of people that have been trained to apply the thing accordingly, to pass the responsibility to the end user is not acceptable, I don't do business like that and I won't do business firms that do. Copper coat better up their game or I'm not using them.

I think CC UK went above and beyond in proofing their product works.
@tomriley57902 жыл бұрын
So basically Coppercoat works but it must be put on properly and that's relatively difficult to do - so you need to really make sure both you and the yard/team really know what they're doing.
@Sailingbritican2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it's difficult but yes, it's important to know the exact procedure. I think the issue is that the normal ablative antifoul goes on any way that you do it. There is no way to get it wrong. I'm not sure if some boatyards realized that CC needs to be done very precisely. Thanks for commenting Tom. Smiles, Kim
@calvingarrett32452 жыл бұрын
Well I'm not a sailboat owner but I know one thing that damn company should be fun money back to you that you probably had to pay extra out of your pocket when it was there for service they gave you on putting that copper coating on the bottom of your boat they should reimburse you for the hardship they put you through that's the way I feel about it. It's already expensive when it comes to having a boat I had a Day cruiser one time for a lake to go fishing that was expensive enough for me

Maybe this comment is a little unfair.. perhaps CC UK pushed the boat out (pardon the pun) to help you because you have a KZbin channel. I guess the moral of the story is great product but extreme care needs to be taken to apply the damn thing .....I wonder how mads bottom from sail life is doing he applied CC himself.....
@Sailingbritican2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree that extreme care needs to be taken. Thanks for commenting Michael. Kim

There is no way to spend 15k hopping that boat yard knows their stuff. I rather pay diver 1000 usd every month to clean my hull.

@robthompson71742 жыл бұрын
It seems after all this drama with CC, there are 2 clear lessons here for all sailors; 1. The skipper is ultimately responsible for work done by yards. So know what is being done and how it should be done properly, and then insist on it. Inspect what you expect. 2. You need to wipe the slime growth off regularly to prevent barnacles. If the CC is applied properly, this is easy to do with a soft cloth. But very cold water and crocodiles are issues that need to be mitigated.
