This is so Sad. I am thankful to God that my mother’s hard work is still standing strong (well from what we see on a very blurry drone video circulating), as well as my grandparents home which we refer to as the family home, but some people still can't be located, and there are quite a few family members who’s homes are on the ground many of them are very old. I don't even know where to start! Personal videos and images are heart breaking, however, they still manage to smile and lift their spirits while people here complain about petty things. Imagine losing a whole island and not just your home? No vegetation except grass, no electricity, you can't find documents, or even use the bathroom in sabnitary conditions, where do you start?
Survival of the fittest, whoever doesn't want to survive can be replaced by a migrant.

In my personal view, it should be an absolute must that anyone that travels on a boat must have certification that they know how to operate a fire extinguisher, understand different extinguisher types, types of potential fire risks and a practical session on how to put out fires correctly. Those with limited experience with fires will panic and thus limiting your ability to think rationally. Good vid as always!

So a squall is a rain shower 🚿
@Sailingbritican19 күн бұрын
A squall is a small pop-up storm. It's usually not on a weather report. They come and go quickly.

Finally. Someone that attaches a line to a cleat the proper, easy, and safe way. I hate the twist "lock" that so many people use. Except I wrap 2 Xs or as I call then Figure 8s then a round turn to finish off.
@Sailingbritican19 күн бұрын
There is quite a bit of polarity around tying a line to a cleat! I don't like the lock, either. Sim

Awesome video but PLEASE, Simon stop doing that forced smile thing with your teeth. First, smiley guy is a very effem look. Second, it is so forced looking. Just be a normal guy and speak like a guy. That's all that is needed. Just so you know, it is women who feel the need to smile all the time not guys... You are being influenced by the wrong Sex... Just saying.. Love the sailboat though.

Like most things it is what you want to fill your needs. Mono for me, low budget, single hander, mainly coastal hopping, so a cat would not fit at all. If the budget were bigger, than still a mono. If I was half a couple in tropical water, live aboard, then cat.

For me it’s monohull all the way. Not a fan of cats

Britican 100% But I'm a bit biased.
@martinbarnes23162 ай бұрын
I’m in the process now of deciding. I always thought I’d go multihull but after seeing so many videos of monohull sailing in bad weather, especially getting caught out in an unexpected or stronger than intended squall and handling it, I’m struggling to understand how a sail by numbers catamaran handles those situations. Safety is very important for my wife and I.

Next month we’re doing a passage from St Martin to Grenada in Britican (monohull) and Manava (catamaran). Why don’t you and your wife join us and you can not only get your questions answered, you’ll be able to feel the difference between the two boats. We’re offering a discounted rate for the passage. Full details here: sailingbritican.com/liveaboard-experience/

Thanks for the offer but a bit quick for us. We are in New Zealand. Looking forward to the videos now.

I can't think of any cons of a catamaran other than being unaffordable to most people.

Double the motor maintenance, higher berthing fees, often terrible sailing boats, have that horrible movement in a big sea, nowadays built terribly, … I could go on
