Copperhead Strike Front Seat POV Carowinds New for 2019 MACK Rides Roller Coaster

CAROWINDS, Charlotte, N.C. - Carowinds will mark a turning point in its evolution as a destination amusement park when it introduces Copperhead Strike, the Carolinas’ first double launch coaster, for the 2019 season. Copperhead Strike simulates the harrowing chase of getaway cars racing through rolling farmland, sending riders on two launches through a relentless winding ride over half a mile of steel.
In this innovative ride, the coaster dynamics are carefully crafted to offer a thrilling and intense low-to-the-ground experience. With three 16-passenger trains fashioned after 1930s coupes, Copperhead Strike sends riders cruising into a Jojo roll right out of the station. They then go into a lightning fast launch to a 360° loop, the second of five inversions, moving into a series of near-miss twists, turns and flips. Without slowing down, the ride launches a second time to accelerate into a memorable hang time loop, leaving passengers breathless and wondering which way is up.
The new coaster is the central element of Blue Ridge Junction, a new immersive, richly themed area inspired by the majestic beauty and easy-going culture of the Blue Ridge Mountain region of the Carolinas.

A launch coaster with a nice duration, multiple inversions, and a solid speed throughout? This is REAL!!? I wish we'd get something like this at six flags great adventure. We don't need an RMC, we have El Toro, they could topper track it and call it a day. By 2025 we can have our new gen GCI with inversions and everything would be great. I CAN DREAM.

I have a vacation house 2 hours away from this park. I loved riding Fury 325 a bunch of times but not sure if I am gonna be down there this year when the park is open :( So as excited as I am for this ride I know eventually I will get to ride it. However I do know I am going to Cedar Point this summer my bucket list park to go to. Can't wait to ride Steel Vengeance!

Im sure its good, and pov videos often dont tell the whole story, but it seems really kinda slow. I know it isnt meant to be a very extreme coaster, but Im not sure if it was worth the hype. That being said, it is a really nice addition to carowinds, and its unique.

someone did an analysis of it and found its running at 85% speed compared to what was shown in the initial concept pov. It may just be slowed down because it is still in testing though, time will tell.

@@thomasarmacost6947 Interesting. Yeah, I wouldnt be surprised if they crank it up a bit when they start actually running it. It barely makes that first loop, which is cool, but with a heavy trainload could possibly result in a stall or rollback at this speed.

Carowinds has a media distribution list in which they will send out videos they want published.
