I agree if you live in a city, for sure. But out in BFN and having firearms and big dogs we don’t anymore. I locked up tight when we lived in the DFW metroplex, even with personal protection at hand.
@SomeoneIusedtoknow-s1f26 күн бұрын
@deniseroe5891 That is so stupid. There are actually a good number of criminals who do decide to target homes in areas where people admit to not locking their doors. It is stupid, and irresponsible to not lock your doors. Big dogs can be shot very easily. Big dogs can often be bribed too because almost no one trains them to be true protection dogs.... Lock your doors, don't be foolish and think you're protected when you don't even lock your doors. Get a safety system, get cameras, lock your doors, AND have dogs, and don't assume you won't be targeted due to location. There are a select number of people who do not care about dogs and will intentionally hit non city homes due to how lax y'all are.... I live in the country, and I lock all of my doors because I've known farmers who get hit, and ive watched enough true crime to know better. I've seen plenty of stories where people have weapons, even firearm weapons right there by them and they still get killed with their dogs....

After I started watching these true crime channels..I lock everything & I am very alert when getting in and out of my car! Stay safe 🫶
@hightower664526 күн бұрын
Same here. Even if crime is unheard of in someone's area, a person or people with bad intentions in the middle of the night can get anywhere in a car and discover areas where people don't lock their doors and take full advantage of that. Don't ever say that bad things can't happen where you live, that just makes people more vulnerable and then they find out otherwise.

Yeah, it's weird that pastors are only human and just as susceptible to sin and temptation as anyone else, probably moreso actually because the enemy goes after them even harder. You know what you don't hear about on the news all the time, though? Not sure I understand how expecting the spouse as opposed to a stranger would invoke sadness. The implication would be that spousal homicide is somehow more upsetting than general homicide which seems like a peculiar distinction.

I lost my husband to cancer when I was 26 years old. He was 28. I started dating someone who had lost their fiance 10 months after he passed. Amanda and her hubby probably didn't get to have the conversation of moving on, but I did. And I will tell you, it was the hardest conversation I've ever had in my life. And you know, he told me to be happy, however that looks. The common misconception is that we are replacing them. I could never replace my husband, no matter how many people I've dated since his passing. But I have been lucky enough to find someone who celebrates him with me. It's easier to not pass judgement and let people be happy...or at least try to.

I've told my husband repeatedly that if I go first I'd want him to be happy with someone else - I can't think of anything worse than being in my last moments, worrying that my death would be taking away his last chance of happiness. I absolutely wish the very best of everything to you and anyone else who finds themselves in your situation. You deserve the happiness you've found, and I hope it continues for many years to come. ❤

The bartender did me a H-U-G-E favor...she looked me directly in the eyes and said "No one is your friend here. No one." And she was a nice lady that everybody liked, including me. OK...BIG wake up call. I used to live in a bigger town before this so I ALWAYS locked my door after shutting it...ALWAYS...not just at night. We added add'l safety measures after that, understandably. Not blaming the victims, of course...but yeah, don't make it easy for "them" to hurt you or your family, monetarily or physically. No matter WHERE you live.

Leave Davey alone. It’s pretty obvious that the three convicted (defendants) are responsible. I think he loved his wife deeply. He had a young child and a deep faith in the afterlife. Perhaps, remarrying was his way of also giving his child a chance at a “normal” life. It’s horrendous to live such a happy and full life, then have it snatched away from you in such a violent way. He found her brutalized body with cranial matter smeared on the floor. It sounds like he mourned for a year and dated the new wife for another year before he married. That’s 2 years. Statistically speaking, men tend to marry quicker than women, and not stay single, especially when they have a child.

My grandfather remarried in less than a year after losing my grandmother whom he was married to for 35 years. I watched him cry every single day for 6 months, he would look at her picture and even considered taking his own life at ome point. Initially I was offended that he moved on so quick because I was still grieving by the time he found someone new but I came to accept it. He still cries on Christmas and new year but he's no longer hurting and his new wife is basically just a copy of my grandmother so I'm happy he's happy.

Otherwise, no good reason to keep doors unlocked. This maybe kinda was ok back when it took great effort to travel from one town to another and so you really would be likely to know most people around you.

If Davey *had* turned out to be guilty of this crime, this entire comment section would be people saying they knew he was guilty based on his 911 call alone. He's weirdly calm; he minimizes what the actual crime scene looks like ("she collapsed" when she's actually been shot multiple times); and he gives an alibi to the 911 operator. I would love for true crime creators to start pointing these things out, so the public might *finally* realize their own confirmation bias and stop claiming that they can determine guilt based on a goddamn 911 call.

I was not judging anyone. It's the statistics that show most of the time the Killer is the one closest to them. And that was an oddly unemotional call. He did not sound distressed. it's not like husbands haven't hired Hitman before but there was definitely something odd with that 911 call. I'm curious what if any of their DNA was found at the scene. Odd that a killer is just going to leave swisher on the table as well. So maybe not be so judgmental when people jump to an educated assumption that it's the husband especially if he remarries right away that would be part of the things that would make people wonder if he did it😢 not just statistically but those things are flags.

I feel like I can speak about him remarrying after only one year. I was 27 and widowed with 4 small children. I remarried about 14 months after his death. It didn't mean I was over it, and it didn't mean I didn't love and miss him. I was lonely and had 4 children to raise. Here comes another good man willing to take all this on. So we don't really know how others feel, or how they're coping after something like this blows up their life. So don't judge, and don't presume to know what you'd do, if you found yourself in this situation. And pray you never do.
@Sophie-UMC25 күн бұрын
Thanks for saying this. It's different if the person can't find anyone or nobody like you well said is willing to take all this on, so when you meet or find that person or they you, we do it. People don't also know how lonely life can especially after trauma and tragedy. Personally I even pray for those to find someone to take it all on because it's difficult to live life like that and with all that goes on after tragedy, family while awesome can't be there 24/7 because they have their own lives too even if they are trying so I get it....deeply.

@@Sophie-UMC it's sad that we know this, and even sadder that people who don't know this, will still judge. You're right about family. Sometimes that means getting into another relationship.

@@jackchop1576 they might be right to some extent, but I think they're way over generalizing. I know a couple men that were quite young when their wives died suddenly, and they're still single, years later. They have lots of help from family, and date sometimes, but never remarried. It just depends on the person. But judging them is so cruel, especially because they've already been through so much trauma.

Merry Christmas, Adrian! And happy New Year! Poor Pastor Davey. One thing to lose a wife and child to such a senseless act, but to be wrongfully suspected of said senseless act is even worse. Especially after the facts presented proved otherwise. You would think the people who wrongfully implicated him would be ashamed of themselves and admit defeat. But nope. They had to use his remarriage as an excuse to implicate him even further. As someone that has recently got dragged in the middle of family drama involving someone who happened to have remarried within a year of their spouse's death, I can definitely say that that type of mentality comes from a place of wanting the widow/widower to be miserable for as long as possible for their own benefit.
