I also dislike how woke DA don't charge all the crimes. But one thing I learned at city council meetings is that our city only has a small jail of its own because to save money, most of the cities and towns in our county banded together with the County government to create a County Jail to house all the detained convicted criminals. Each town or municipality pays into it an extra fee for each prisoner to be held. So by sending fewer prisoners that saved money for the city budget. Unfortunately, after all this time of seeing lackadaisical city employees, I get the feeling that saving city budget money is their codespeak for more money to divert to contractor firms created by friends and family members. Thus, fighting crime by jailing more criminals means less money to be skimmed by friends and family on other projects that exist only if there isn't huge budget pressure on the city.

This was a year ago, and things have only gotten worse. We're fast approaching the point where stores will be closing down and only selling online, because it's costing too much in security and losses to justify maintaining a physical outlet. I have some sympathy for people who steal food because they don't have any other choice, but this is organized crime. All of the people engaging in this should be made examples of, because not doing so is leading to a massive increase in criminality, leading to rising costs, which leads to more crime.
