She settled, something so small it didn't cause any attention and that same police officer that hog ties another human is still out there. This case should get more attention now, picked up by all the media the whole department embarrassed. Then the usual excuse we will put them through additional training.

The best thing you can do when dealing with them is to treat as law enforcement that do not have to read you your rights. Their job is take your children and build a criminal case against you. The poorer you are the more they come after you. They will use everything against you they can. If you gave your kids candy they will use that. The best thing you can do is keep your home clean and don't let them in, don't talk to CPS, or cops. You have the same rights as if you are being questioned by the police, but they aren't going to tell you that part. They are all smiles and helpful. Don't be fooled a wolf in sheep clothing.

Police should be getting them checked out first above all. everyone who isn't acting right, needs to be checked out. People going through medical or mental problems act not normal. acting not normal could be life threatening. jail isn't where someone delirious from too high or low blood sugar etc. Its medical emergencies do not jail emergencies. I know some police in some areas of the country have always been a problem, but when I was growing-up and through most of my young adulthood they were always very polite and helpful in every interaction I ever had with them. The first time I ever had a bully like encounter was when I in my late 40s, I was shocked. After that another 2 encounters I have had were not pleasant. No laws were broken. My daughter had a sleep over and one of the girls went to another girl's home instead of going straight home, and the parents called the police. This was a 16-year-old we are talking about. It had nothing to do with my daughter. He pushed his way into our home and terrorized a room full of sleeping teenage girls. He belittled them like they were the scum of the earth.The @ss probably found that thrilling. My husband and I felt helpless and afraid.These were all sweet nerdish girls that thought eating snacks and watching scary movies was a good time. I am 65 now and all my encounters were for mild things like head lights or taillights being out. These friendly polite cops I use to know would give warning for things like that in my younger days.
