I live in Utah now, I haven’t heard that “symphony of cicadas” in many years..snowy winters are virtually silent, when it snows hard, it’s like being in a sound booth, utterly dead silent..

If you bite a police officer arm that's a battery on a officer / assault on a officer correct?

Absolutely! It can range from a mid-level misdemeanor to mid-level felony depending on jurisdiction and whether or not the bite was successful.

@bluegrassman304019 күн бұрын
I reckon it depends on which state you’re in, also. I’m not sure if in TN it was the state las to wear your seatbelt, at least at that time. It has been where I live in KY for several years now.
@christopherreed47235 күн бұрын
A lot of officers will release their seatbelt ahead of a vehicle stop, both to let them jump out of the patrol car faster if someone runs (which you may have noticed happens quite a bit), and to let them duck down behind the dashboard if someone in the car they're stopping comes out shooting (which has also been known to happen). That said, most departments encourage their officers to wear their seatbelts (even making it department policy). First, because it looks bad (and gets really awkward in court) when you ticket someone for not doing something that you yourself weren't doing, either. Second because those seatbelts do save lives and prevent injuries, and by the nature of their work officers are more likely to be involved in accidents than your average motorist. Not so sure about being exempt from state seatbelt laws. If that were the case, checking if an officer involved in an accident has been wearing their seatbelt wouldn't be standard procedure, which it is, at least in the departments I'm familiar with.

That officer should have left that woman alone. She was hitchhiking, not disturbing anyone. She shouldn't have the right to randomly detain and search people unless they are causing trouble.
@Alsebra17 күн бұрын
Hitchhiking is illegal in a lot of areas, she was doing it from the median (in the middle of the road), and people can absolutely be detained for suspicious activity. I was once stopped near the city limits of my town by a state trooper because I was walking down a street that turns into a highway (where there were no sidewalks) and carrying a six-pack of booze. Had he decided to, I could've been detained until he verified who I was and what I was doing...but I didn't give him any reason to suspect that I was doing anything illegal (I produced my ID (which showed my age) and said I was going to a friend's place (which was in a small neighbourhood just on the other side of the city limits))...he let me go while also saying he would've given me a lift, but it would be illegal for him to do so (can't have liquor of any sort in his vehicle).
@michaelmapes411916 күн бұрын
No she wasn't *Hitchhiking* ....She said she was "working", but doesn't have the money for at least bus fare? Plus she told Off. GI Jane there that she was "Hitchhiking" to a place only three blocks away.
@KBear-nn4lb19 күн бұрын
During the first 6 minutes, the officer could have used de-escalation practices. His tone and manner provoked combative behavior. It is well known that intoxication, as well as head trauma can cause combative behavior and problems with memory recall. Because he was accusatory and instigated a fight, now she suffers more consequences for his ego. This bullshit enrages me.
@Angela-ep9pm15 күн бұрын
I agree. He should have accepted her answer that she didn’t know what happened. How reliable is anything she tells him in that state going to be anyway?
