가수 소향이 블루노트 30주년 기념 공연에서 세계적 프로듀서 데이비드 포스터와 함께 역대급 공연을 완성했다. 지난 11월 30일부터 12월 3일까지 일본 도쿄 블루노트에서 열린 공연에서 소향은 MBC ‘나는 가수다’ 출연 당시 우승하며 새로운 신드롬을 불러왔던 ‘I Have Nothing’를 비롯해 ‘Oh Holy Night’, ‘Bridge over Troubled Water’, ‘I Will Always Love You’, ‘September’ 등을 열창해 큰 호응을 얻었다. 특히 이번 공연은 데이비드 포스터의 공연에 한국 가수 최초로 초청받아 펼친 공연인 동시에 브라이언 맥나이트(Brian McKnight)도 함께 출연해 쉽게 볼 수 없는 역대급 콜라보 공연을 완성해냈고 매회 무대마다 관객들은 열광하며 기립 박수와 공연장 가득한 환호성으로 일본에 또 다른 한류 센세이션을 일으켰다. 이날 소향과 공연을 꾸민 데이비드 포스터는 “소향과 너무나 만나고 싶었고 함께 무대를 꾸밀 수 있어서 행복했다. 처음 소향을 알게 된 건 오프라 윈프리가 너무나 놀라운 가수가 있다. 이 영상을 꼭 봐야 한다며 소개해줘 처음 유튜브에서 본 소향의 ‘I have Nothing’에 단번에 반했고 전율을 느껴 소향의 거의 모든 노래를 찾아 들었고 소향을 만나려고 오랫동안 수소문했다. 소향은 내가 만난 최고의 디바 중에 한 명이다. 정말 보이스가 너무 아름다우면서도 압도적이고 매회 감동적이고 놀라운 무대였다고 극찬을 아끼지 않았다. 앞으로도 또 함께 작업하고 싶다”며 소감을 전했다. 소향은 지난 2017년 ‘복면가왕’을 통해 대체불가 가창력으로 평가받은 후 활발한 활동을 펼치고 있으며 올해에는 평창 패럴림픽에서 세계적인 소프라노 조수미와 함께 개막식 피날레를 장식하며 국내외의 찬사를 받았다. 최근에는 여러 드라마 OST에 참여하며 다양한 모습으로 대중들에게 다가서고 있으며 지난 5월에는 세계적인 밴드 DNCE 진주와 ‘너의 노래’를 발매한 바 있다.
