I saw a ME report involving 2 shots with Corbon 115 grain +P JHP. The projectiles were piercing out the upper back of the suspect (armed home burglar) during the autopsy. Perfect expansion and the suspect was DRT. I know a lot of the old school scalloped JHP do not pass the FBI penetration protocols. One round hit a large valve that supplies the heart with blood. This was in rural Missouri in 2011 and the self-defense pistol was a Sig P250 3.9 inch barrel. The police chief added the Corbon 115 JHP +P for 9mm carriers following the incident. The suspect was a 6 foot 230lb male who had high levels of methamphetamine and alcohol in his system. The rounds caused devastating internal damage to the bad guy and the investigators couldn't believe the terminal effectiveness of the perceived dated old school round.

Best I ever got with Federal's 9BPLE (115gr +P+) was 1250fps from a 3.5" barrel in a Glock 26. That was on a mild spring day, IIRC, and not in cold weather (which can give lower velocity or so I hear). Either way, these seem to be pretty decent overall for lightly clothed threats. In my neck o'the woods, a bad guy isn't likely to have on more than a t-shirt most of the year.

Corbon isn't a good company anymore. I used to love their ammo, their 9mm jhp 115 and 125 classics were great. I bought several boxes awhile back and they are using the absolute cheapest hollow points they can get... If your pushing 9mm hps at that velocity they have to be made for that speed. Whatever cheap pos ones I got in these literally won't fully penetrate a juice bottle. It fragments and comes apart... So disappointed. I did tons of testing with their old jhps that penetrated decently. These look to be sierra hollow points if I had to guess... Definitely not the same as yours, or the old classics. They are just loading anything they can get their hands on. Corbon used to be a respected name. Not anymore.

I expected a significant velocity reduction but a decrease of about 230 fps is a bit much. 1120 fps can be achieved with a 124gr bullet in a 3'' barrel. 1st shot looks like it got plugged with denim. This load doesnt impress me. I'll stick with 124 gr HST

Seems kinda weak for these Corbon at lower 1,100 FPS even out of a 3" barrel. Interesting to see what JHP projectile Corbon used here. I picked up a few boxes of this exact same 115 +P ammunition a few months ago in the same blue box packaging, and Corbon appears to use Sierra bullets, the same projectile the Sierra Outdoor Master uses. At least with that lot. It also chronos around 1,240 FPS out of my Glock 26. Not really impressed with ~1120 with 115 +P even in a short barrel. My Sig V Crowns do upper 1100's out of my P365.

Send me $500 and I'll buy one, LOL! No, I just test what I own, just because I'm monetized doesn't mean I have a budget to go outside the arsenal I would actually use. Maybe someday... The main point of sharing these videos has always been to give the CCW community the same data I gather for personal use. I'd have no use for a 4.5" 9mm as I already have a full size 40 for home defense (not to mention a shotgun or two).

Buffalo Bore actually makes the most powerful commercial load for the 9mm. It's a 147 gr +p+ putting out over 500 ft lbs of energy. Hot load, but I wouldn't want to put a whole lot of rounds through a small polymer pistol. Besides from the recoil, I'm pretty sure that a round that hot would beat up a small polymer pistol pretty fast. Those rounds would be more useful in a steel frame duty size pistol or a good quality pcc. While they are impressive on paper, I'll stick with my 4" 1911 45. As we learned in elementary school physics, a large slow moving object causes more damage than a fast moving small object. If you've never experienced it, drop a brick on your foot from waist height and then drop a 8" block from the same height and see which one causes the most damage and hurts the most. I can tell you from personal experience that the block is way worse. And of course the rest of the guys in masonry class spent a week laughing their heads off. Well I laughed at their mishaps too, so I deserved it.

I dont know where you got your physics from. Drastically higher velocities (even from a much lighter 9mm +p or +p+) will likely cause the same if not more damage than a lot of slow-moving 45 rounds. (Think about the damage a tiny 55gr 556 causes at 3000fps etc). The Speer gold dot 124gr JHP +P rounds I use, claims to move at 1220fps and hit with 410 ft-lbs of energy (which is higher than a lot of .45). And they expand to around .5"... But there is plenty of 9mm that will expand even more (to nearly 1"), and some +p/ +p+ will reach 500+ ft-lbs. All while allowing much higher magazine capacity, and faster follow-up shots imo. I just like the idea of having 15+1 rounds available in my m&p 2.0 4", giving me about twice the capacity of a 45. While also having close to, or equal impact energy per round
