I would never advise someone to put coral and fish in before letting the tank properly cycle. This was an unusual case where Nick brought his clownfish from home (NY) and they needed to go into a tank immediately. The turbo start and other livestock was our attempt to add at least some natural ammonia producing organisms with bacteria to get a speedy cycle. All his stuff was doing well as shown in the 5 day update!

I've had freshwater tanks since the age of 10 (I'm 25 now) but moved on to planted aquariums in 2017 and started my first reef tank in the beginning of 2019. Honestly couldn't be more glad I did because watching my corals open up and sway around brings me so much joy, especially with how gloomy it is in Seattle. And now I'm going to school for Marine Biology! Keep it up , you're an inspiration

Thank tank looks amazing! I think the painted rich was a great choice compared to live rock it has so much more vibrant colors. One of my favorite things about aquariums is the colors and clearness.

For the people asking yes that is all you need to start the cycle on a saltwater tank but do not start adding in a ton of fish at once. the bacteria in a bottle works but its still good to let the tank age before you become fully stocked.

@@yeeeyeetyeet1931 it’s actually stability that keeps them alive. A young tank with stable parameters has a higher chance of keeping an anemone alive than an old one with no stability. I have two anemones and my tank has only been running for three or four months. Also, turbo start is what keeps them alive because it’s nitrifying bacteria that is already being present on your tank. If you want anemones, it’s best to get live rock that is 6 months or older. The older the better !

@@sergtv6907 your anemones died because your parameters weren’t stable ! The age of the tank is a safe approach but if it isn’t stable, you have given your anemones a death sentence. If you buy live rock that’s been active for 6 months or more then you’ll have a higher chance of keeping those anemones alive. Dry rock is okay, but success is better with established live rock. I have two anemones in my tank and my tank hasn’t been running longer than 6 months. Still alive till this day. If you can’t keep the parameters stable, don’t buy anemones

you don't need a sump. It's an all in one. You can just do water changes to keep the level correct

In 9/10 cases, yes. If you use turbo start, make YOUR OWN RO/DI water and test for trace elements, and check your water parameters non stop, you'll be just fine. I moved across the country with a 30 gallon tank and I had to do this to restart my tank. All my fish and corals were just fine.
