I just want to hug Neil Gaiman for writing the story behind the film. This movie definitely helped me through small but impactful waves of melancholy when I was a child learning to accept my deafness. Yes, I am deaf, no I do not want your sympathies or pities, nor am I dumb. Coraline helped me believe that it is okay to be different, regardless of what society thinks of you. I’m just so grateful and I wish this film held so much more notability and recognition rather than it being viewed as a disturbing film.
@unrellated4 жыл бұрын
The book did hint that the Other Mother wasn't the only one of her kind. There are similar beings who have doors in other houses. So I'm guessing the closest thing we'll get to a sequel will be a book about another kid dealing with a different "Other Mother Being". And I have an idea for Neil to consider for that. Coraline was being drawn into the trap with what were basically some shiny new toys. But what if the bait wasn't superficial? What if it was something more serious than boredom luring the kid in? Let's say an Other Mother Being finds a boy who recently became an orphan. In the Other World, he gets to see his parents again, albeit in a slightly creepy button-eye form. Think about it. After getting over the initial shock, he might actually be tempted to get buttons sewn into his eyes.

Coraline is the best stop-motion animated film of all time. Yes, in my mind it is better than The Nightmare Before Christmas. Teri Hatcher should have been nominated for an Oscar or won the Oscar. There is no part of this film that I dislike. Dakota Fanning did an amazing job, too. I think all of them did great work. There is a great video where you get to watch the Director talk about this film, and how he uses something called "Soft Magic." It's not like magic from Harry Potter. This is absolutely brilliant. I love the fact that the cat can move throughout the two different "dimensions." One where he cannot speak, and the "magical" one where he can speak. He knows that The Beldam will never be able to steal his eyes/his soul, and she is disgusted by cats. So, he uses that to his advantage to help Coraline. I think he knew she was the one that could save the other children's souls in the beginning, hence why he befriends her even though Coraline doesn't like him when they first meet.

@@Mj_eury1387 the beldam probably will be reincarnated, and revenge. Like in horror movies, bad people try to bring back the evil to live, so in this case even though the beldam has died, or hasn't. There will be people who accidentally or on purpose bring her back to live by doing such rituals from a book which beldam wrote and sent it to the real world in case if she's dead, someone will be convinced to read the books or even as they read the book they'll get hypnotised to do the reincarnation ritual for beldam. Lol I hope there will be " Life Action Coraline " produced by the same company as " The Conjuring " or else That would be much more interesting 😍😂

Coraline played a great part in my childhood and I would really love if there was a second one. Now,making an even better sequel to such an intresting plot and magical,nostalgic story will be tough to add on. Maybe,it's only a suggestion,adding more in to beldamn's background while still expanding the character's setting would be to explore other cultures. Kind of taking the viewer to a whole different setting while skillfully and intelligently keeping the elements of the first one's sence of mystery.It would make the wonder even more realistic since the author itself wasn't as familiar with the new view at the beginning.The beldamn's similar -if not,to a witch. I've personally have comed to explore more fantastic cultures and one that I would specifically like to compare to a similar magical feeling,would be the Mexican culture. Still,that's something i would try doing more so to widen the coraline world to the viewers. I'm really anticipating the sequel to this mesmerizing story and will wait as long as it needs to be waited to get another master piece full of wonder!
