My sister, aunt and I visited Corbridge today! Beautiful village and we were able to find our ancestors in the churchyard, Snowballs! Would love to know more about their life in Corbridge!

If we all lived to 223 years of age there still would not be enough time to personally visit all the lovely places like this so thank you for bringing them to us in the comfort of out homes

It would be wonderful indeed! I'd love to make a video on every city, town and village in the world - but as you say there just isn't time sadly :( But still, I do love making these videos, and I'm so glad to hear that you enjoy watching them - it really means a lot! Thank you so much for watching - I do hope you get the chance to visit a few of these lovely places for yourself in the future :)

I visited Corbridge because my love for everything Roman took me to Hadrian's Wall. I had no idea what to expect and was immediately charmed. What a lovely little village, what amazing history! If you plan on visiting the area, take a day to experience the charm of Corbridge. Thank you for this video and the history lesson! Greatly appreciated!

Oh my God. This has brought tears to my aged eyes. I have asked my sister that, upon my demise, my ashes are scattered at Corbridge, she lives in Forest Hill London, London is where i come from. Found Corbridge because of my love of Roman history which my ex wife couldn't comprehend. It is without doubt a beautiful part of the UK that gladdens me. Love all about Northumberland, even the folks are welcoming and warm. What a marvellous video, thank you so much.

We visited the Roman town a few years ago, well worth a detour.
@LetsWalkUK3 жыл бұрын
It certainly is! It's amazing to think that this town was once linked to the heart of Rome thousands of miles away - as the northernmost frontier of that great empire :) Thank you so much for watching - I really hope you enjoyed the video!

Thank you so much - I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Corbridge is a lovely village and quite amazing to think that this was the furthest north that the Roman Empire went :)

Try a Walk around Hexham in October...watch the salmon jumping up the wier under the bridge over the Tyne at Hexham.

I've got a winter walk coming up on this channel from Hexham - but I'll make sure to head back when the salmon are springing out of the water :)

Elegant and picturesque village by the Tyne, do you know If Salmons swim upstream the river tyne?
@LetsWalkUK3 жыл бұрын
It's so picturesque, isn't it? I really love Corbridge, and in answer to your question - I've found out that the Tyne is actually the best river in England for salmon numbers, while other rivers like the Tweed are also good for salmon :) Thank you for watching and commenting as always - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!

Interesting knowing that Romans settled thus north. Romans they were, but probably not from Rome, since soldiers serving in the north, were in largest part from other provinces of the Empire. At Castlecary on the Antonine wall, at a carved register, they identified themselves as coming from Noricum (Austria) and few from Italy ( Roman centurions, Raffaele D´Amato). One more refined video by Let´s Walk.

Thank you so much! Corbridge really is a fascinating little village - with so much history and the fact that it was so significant thousands of years ago, especially for an Empire with its headquarters thousands of miles to the south! Thank you so much for watching - I'm so glad you enjoyed the video :)

Absolutely! It may be small but there's a whole lot to Corbridge - and there's more time spent in pubs than walking between them :) Thanks for watching - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!
