My interpretation (may or may not be just my theory ) : So The protagonist (cory) had just faced an accident and he’s hurt and he’s running or walking away as if something is chasin him…this could be that…in the past he had been through some painful times and even in the present he’s still living with the past memories and he’s trying to run away from it. He really wants out of everything but he is hopeless and distressed. Just as in “Dante’s inferno- divine comedy “ he’s trying to find his guide (Virgil) through all these hells he’s going through to find a way out of it. And he’s beggin to be pulled out from the way of life that he only knows i.e, the pains and sufferings and tells the person who can potentially save him not to let him down because he’s faced lots of people in his life and everyone he knows is basically just as broken as him and don’t want that possible ‘Virgil’ to let him down to bring him to his whole journey. And in the poem, Dante had to go through layers of hell to be with his love Beatrice in heaven….and maybe he’s comparing Beatrice to faith hope and happiness…so he’s (cory) asking himself confusedly whether he is doing this if its the life that he has chosen or he’s just the victim wanting out of the emptiness. In order to be happy he has to go through 9 layers of hell and temptations however he doesn’t really mind if he’s going to be happy after all in the end. Maybe that’s it…may be wrong 🤔 🕵️‍♀️🕵️‍♀️ My writing may not make sense sorry 🥺

I'm not a religious person, but I love lyrics that make me think, and I think these lyrics sound just like a prayer. In the darkest moments, he seeks guidance, and so the lyrics speak of the darkness and despair he feels. It obviously references The Divine Comedy and hints at Dante's journey. My assumption is that "Dante's Valley" is the second phase of Dante's journey, before Purgatorio/climbing the mountain. So he's referencing this stage of Dante's journey? What I find interesting is that he sings, "Do I abandon all my hope so damned cuz I know." He only uses the word "hope" twice, but the lyrics, the melody, and how it builds up already speak volumes when it comes to feeling the hope he's yearning for. With that being said, I have never read The Divine Comedy, so most of this is probably not accurate, just my interpretation. I only know the gist of it. I believe Cory mentioned that the lyrics for this song are what he has been going through during his hiatus? (could be wrong there as I was listening to him while I was working) If we were to compare his journey to Dante, and because I want to see the positive stuff in life, I am sure Cory will come to find whatever he seeks. Virgil had to tell the gatekeepers several times that "what is willed must happen." It reminds me of how I see that things happen for a reason - I try not to let it affect me too much. Besides, even though Virgil was there to guide him, Dante had to do the tough parts of analyzing the events for himself. Life's tough, but we all got this, guys!

Okay so my interpretation is that the protagonist kind of *is* the car, in the sense that he feels like a broken thing that needs to be fixed. Possibly also because he keeps moving, even when he doesn't necessarily knows where to. This is why we never actually see a car driving, only the protagonist runnig in the middle of a road. He's stuck on a loop of moving forward (above ground running), feeling too broken to be ever fixed (under ground and chained), and sorta just in the purgatory (the mechanical shop) where he is very ready to be fixed, all the tools are there, but it just isn't happening. So he thinks well, maybe someone else outside of myself can guide me out of this loop (Virgil). Because I clearly only know this pattern: run and burnout, crush so hard it might be the point of no return (abandon all hope - hell), and then sorta somewhere in the middle just hoping that there's hope. Oh and the whole story repeats itself in a loop also as he finds Virgils/loves/passions. Like it could be people but could also be passion projects, some sort of a "bigger answer that finally makes everything make sense", this or that coping tool. But in the end they are never enough. Is it because the protagonist is just too broken and evil or something? Or is it just because he's in too much pain? Either way, why isn't there an answer/a guide? He's so so tired...

creating theory for the first time for the love to Corbyn, here we go Corbyn is Dante itself in this theory whereby he is questioning whether all of the darkness and the activation of the martyr is the crux why his life is damage that he keeps his heavy heart to power up his magic and sacrifices to the love for Beatrice. His journey of life that he found himself in a darkness to clear the path of his sins but Dante does not regret because it is a blessing pain because of his love to illuminate the dark to the path where they both belong.
