@ashleybchoi Im with you in this one. If someone doesn't know why they need to apologize they don't know what upset or hurt me. So, they have a high probability of hurting me again. I can't trust that.

I'm with Ashley on the not apologising when you don't think you've done anything wrong. If you've listened to your partner and see where they're coming from but still disagree, then you can agree to disagree. There's no need to throw empty, meaningless apologies

for someone who hates confrontation this episode is almost overwhelming to watch. but i feel like it gives me more perspective on how different personalities handle tense situatuons. so thank you for getting real on such a sensitive subject 🥲 personally tho, i agree that saying sorry helps to cool down the air and it makes what you say feel less like an attack towards the other person, usually i just say sorry that the situation got heated, or for upsetting them, then explain where i came from (without saying "but", i learned from experience🙏, apparently some feels it makes the sorry sound less sincere). When it's really bad and it seems like time is needed to reach any conclusion, i think it's best to explicitly set a time to comeback to the issue, personally when someone says they needs time, sometimes it makes me anxious bcs i feel like they're trying to brush me off and never talk about it again... wow i didn't expect to rant this much..🤣🤣

oh my gosh i just watched 40 mins of corbyn talking about why he's sorry. lmao the thing is ashley just wanna tell guys like him "there are other phrases you can use to diffuse the tension and 'im sorry' isnt it." 😂 and corbyn, the answer to the million-dollar question of "what are you sorry about," in the context of you being correct or having no mistake made, is "sorry that it *lead to an argument"* you can follow it by a "now let's talk about what made you upset/feel that way." SOOO MUCH BETTER THAN AN "OKAY IM SORRY BUT" i cant be the only one who got drained in this episode 😅

A lot of people don’t master apologizing for making someone feel a certain type of way. Even tho its not your intention. Its nice to apologize and say “Hey i’m sorry if i made you feel this way but it wasn’t my intention.” That is the mature thing to do. People take too much offense when it comes to apologizing and they’re like “Oh what are u saying? Thats its my fault that you feel this way?” While it litteraly is. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing because we are all humanbeings and it happens anyways no matter how hard you work on yourself People can’t control the way we feel. We are humanbeings, not robots. If you know it wasn’t your intention there’s no need to get so offended about you having to apologize. Its just apologizing for the way you made them feel, regardless of the intention you had with making them feel like that. Don’t be a child and just apologize because at the end of the day everyone is entitled to their feelings. Remember that phrase.

@therealsirenayasmin Жыл бұрын
I understand where Corbyn is coming from. Saying I’m sorry first as a way to show the person that you’re already putting your pride aside and to bring the energy levels down & essentially, you are sorry for upsetting the person or offending the person even if you don’t necessarily know how you did so exactly at that exact moment. With the follow up conversation, you can dive deeper into the details and if another apology is necessary with the specifics then it can be done too.

5:02 my favorite k drama right now is actually a BL. It’s Called the 8th sense. Omg you guys should have the main characters on an episode of get real! More and more Korean Bl’s are coming out and this is SOOOOO INCREDIBLY GOOOOOD so far. I mean talk about the power in chemistry. 🏳️🌈🇰🇷
@desmeisme Жыл бұрын
@The Eight Kid แปด my mental health has gone through a lot through out the years. But there is light at the other side of the tunnel. Depression is strong but in time you learn through out a tough road that so are you. Depression is not forever, it feels like it since you can be stuck in it for years, but I swear It’ll get better. It’s like a caterpillar waiting to bloom into a butterfly. Eventually through time you shed it and find the real freedom is excepting what you can not change, and find the courage to change the things you can. That’s why I have hopes for a good ending in the 8th sense. I think Ji hyun will be a huge help in jae wons healing. Even though the most recent episode he pushes him away it’s clear he’s still trying to wrap his emotions around everything. He wants to be careful but idk, another week of waiting for more sorry I’m trying to type this before work so I’m going fast and I hope this made sense

Burn and Cold are a great pair. Corbyn's pre-emptive apologies aren't insincere, but they may be used as placeholders and transitions in an effort to dissipate the tension in the air. There's nothing inherently wrong with that impulse (which also explains why some people crack jokes when a conversation becomes too serious), but saying "I'm sorry" that often will erode its meaning. Eventually, when you do something that is unequivocally or arguably hurtful, "I'm sorry" may not come across as convincing anymore.

Bruh, I can FEEL Corbyn's frustration trying to explain the saying "I'm sorry" first. I think what he was trying to say was that saying sorry in those situations first isn't admitting fault to the situation or admitting that you had a role somewhere to cause it. It's more an expression of "yo, it seems like I've hurt your feelings somehow", admitting to unknowingly causing hurt but then wanting to explore why in the followup conversation. Or more generally it's like saying "How did we end up on the opposite side? I may not know what hill it is exactly that we are standing on opposing sides of, but it is here undeniably and I want to be on the same side. So let's talk it out cause, my bad for not picking up on this sooner, whatever this issue ends up being". It's kind of like saying "I'm sorry to hear that" when someone mentions a loved one passing away. You aren't apologising for the loved one's death; you didn't cause it and you had no role in it. But the underlying message is "I did not intend to bring up a topic that may be causing you pain and I apologise for that. I didn't want to and don't want to bring you down." You are apologising and acknowledging that you have negatively impacted their mood and expressing that that was the reverse of what you wanted. Saying sorry first helps open up the necessary followup conversation because touchy subjects requires at least one person (ideally both) to be okay with being vulnerable. Why? Cause being vulnerable here means having to be honest about how you may have directly or indirectly contributed to the situation, being mature and willing to own up to your responsibility in the relationship (friendship or romantic), and owning up to not being perfect and willing to take on other's criticisms or at least being open to hearing a different interpretation of something. As I get older, I find that last part to being particularly important. At the end, you don't have to agree but you should at least understand what the other person's stance is, and that more often than not maybe the problem was in the delivery of the message (tone of voice, method of communication, language, intention, assumed knowledge, ...). It's not just about what you're communicating but how.

About the “sorry” thing. In my opinion, I think saying sorry without knowing the reason lowers the value of the “sorry”/apology. Talking things out with each other can lead to a true apology, but apologizing right away without knowing may feel no feel sincere to the other person. Maybe an option could be explaining why you are saying sorry. For example, in the beginning of an argument you can say “I’m sorry for the miscommunication and I see that you are hurt. I would like for to solve this together etc.” Then while you’re both talking you can understand why or why not an apology is needed :)

I get what they are saying with the sorry but it may be just me but I took the "sorry's never enough" in a different way lol My example is: when someone does something wrong (i.e. cheat, lies, doesn't come thru) and all they do is say Sorry with no actions to change.. then SORRY'S never enough
