Here's a tip for the end, instead of using a paintbrush, put another piece of string in a loop along the handle, leaving plenty at the loop end and two ends and wind nice and snug around it. When you get to the last part, thread the end through the loop you made and simply pull the two ends toward the pommel. Get your end under the winding and remove excess string, and voila!

The handle looks great! Kinda reminds me of a mint chocolate chip 😂 Thanks for showing how to do this. Will help me in the future if I ever have to rewrap my Sigi handle.

Huh, I would have thought the adhesive would have been on the handle before applying the cord (I've only done leather wrapping myself), so this video is most helpful and insightfull!

It definitely can be. There’s nothing wrong with doing it like that.

It may be a bit messier to do it that way.

Nice job. Thinking of trying something similar with 1.5mm leather round. Thanks for showing

I need to remember this. My new gauntlets are chewing up the cord wrap on my Albion Lichtenauer

I know this is from 2 years ago, have you tried taking old handles like that off by scraping?

Thanks for the tips Where did you get the hemp cord ?
@luyang77817 ай бұрын
curious how long did it last or if you have found something more durable? I used hemp with epoxy but a few hits could still easily break the cord and chip out the coating layer.

How does the adhesive fair in warm/hot weather?

How's the hemp holding up?

I ended up hating this colour combo and redid it shortly after 😂 The material is great for my personal sword, but never lasts with loaner swords. We’ve been experimenting with different synthetic materials with much success for swords that get a ton of use.

I only did it like that once and wished I never had. That glue is not waterproof and the sweat from your hands or any rain will make it all slippery and slimy and fall apart. It also turns black and gummy looking from your hands very quickly. Maybe the waterproof wood glue would help but from my experience it too is not really water proof , it’s just better in wood joints like outdoor furniture. There is lots of other glues you can use that are waterproof or like the person mentioned already, wax. Also if you put the glue under the wrap you don’t even need to tie it off. Just tape it until the glue is dry. People actually tie off the wrap to avoid using glue. If using glue then just one or two tie offs is all you need. You can also whip the grip without the paintbrush. Look up whipping. I hope this helps you with your next wrap Brittany. 🧶 🤺
