Love them both for different reasons and since many years ago. Roku can handle tons of channels (more than 100) and never gets full as the channels are cloud based. They go back to cloud when unused but easily open back when you click them. That's one of the big pros. It's unbelievably easy to use. 🔥 Stick is for the things you like to have that Roku can't and with a web browser 🙂

The Roku live tv section gives you the ability remove channels. Just press the star button when your on the channel guide number. I removed all the kids and spainish channels from the live guide. It also gives you the ability to select group all your favorite channels together too !!

I'm on team Roku, I have a Roku Ultra LT, and I like it. I got mine from Walmart, and I stopped paying for Direct TV cause my bill kept getting hight and higher each month. It got to the point I couldn't pay for it no more so I got me a Roku Ultra LT from Walmart and never paid off Direct TV cause Direct TV was screwing me over. I'm glad I have a Roku now, my bill stays the same cause I pay for streaming apps and KZbin Premium, the only time my bill goes up is when the app decides to increase the price of the package I have through the app

Is the WiFi strong on this as the router is at the other end of the house the amazon firesticks seem to have weak wi fi

@gregfowler957 not really, no. No streaming device really works better than others on weak wifi. Two suggestions: for longer distances, the 2.4G Wifi works better than 5G Wifi. If that doesn't help, you might benefit greatly from a Wifi Mesh system for strong Wifi signal across your whole house. See the link in the description for the one I use called Eero Wifi6 mesh system

We need one of these as our TV is giving a message that it won't support Netflix after mid August (and weve already lost some other channels). I am inclining to Roku due to simpler interface and avoidance of Amazon advertising. Two questions: 1. What is the difference between Roku streaming stick 4K and Roku Express 4K? 2. Do the channels provided vary by location? I am in UK and only need access to Netflix, BBC I Player, More4 and all the Freeview channels.

Longtime Roku user who switched to Fire Stick, with Wolf Launcher, when Roku forced content on the home screen briefly. Not sure I'm going back. Do you know if the Live Guide lets you set DVR recordings within an app?

It does not. Some 3rd party (Unofficial) apps will allow you to record, but none of the official apps do that I am aware of.

When it comes to storage,. it's not really apples to apples comparison. The Roku doesn't even show you how much storage you have and the apps (or channels as they call them) don't use storage like the Firestick does. The Firestick 4K max has 8GB, of which 4-5 is useable after system files, etc.

A Roku stores all your apps in the cloud. So you could download as many apps as you'd want.

No, that's not possible. However, if you have a smart TV supports you, you can do that if you have a thumb drive plugged into the USB port of the tv.

Yes, If I'm understanding you correctly, you can enable your Cell Phone's mobile hot-spot and connect to the Wifi your phone provides. However, be careful if you have data limits, because it will use a sizable amount of bandwidth.

I own them both as well. Have owned many previous versions, as well. Haven't used the Max yet, but about to switch my Roku for it. The newest Roku Stick 4k has been nothing but trouble since I bought it. Seems to glitch out at least a couple times a day needing to restart. Seems slower than the non 4k version. Other than that, it's the same. Love the interface, ease of operation... All that. Hate you have to use their app to connect Bluetooth headphones. There is a lag I can't fix using it this way. Fire stick previous versions were slow and you have to manually close out the apps. I hate that. Although, connecting Bluetooth headsets are a breeze. Love that. The UI sucks though... Just ugly and hard to navigate. Updating also sucks, because you have to update each new update until the latest one. Dumb way to have to do it. Love the fact it's like android and can use all sorts of Apps, unlike Roku which is more like an iPhone in that sense and more. Hope the Fire Max fixes my issues and I don't hate that one too.

Roku is Inflexible and Entry level only, FireTV is fine, but why use a fork of Android when you can use android itself. Shield on the main tv and Google Chromecast TV on others.
