How will the winding coil stand up to the heat over time? Sad to hear it’s flimsy…

Mark, thanks for checking in. It is very substantial. Very heavy piece, which means the spring coil inside is thick. With anything else, if you keep moisture out, and not overwind it, it should last. Also, when assembled it is fairly rigid as you can tell by my handling. Just have to watch those support legs that notch into place. Cheers!

Great videos you have. On the Roto-Q do you think it would work on a open grill with no lid. I have the Lodge cast iron Sportsman grill. I really like to know. Thank you Mike.

Mike, thanks for the kind words of support. Absolutely and without a doubt it will. The sole purpose for buying it was to add rotisserie atop my Santa Maria/ Argentine grill. And I have used it with success. Cheers!

Smokingtarheel, thanks for the kind words. It can be perceived as. When it’s all locked in place, the unit is fairly sturdy. It is by no means as robust as my proprietary Weber, but suffices over my Argentine grill. Cheers!

I just tried mine with whole wings today. What I learned is I should have separated them all at the joints because, being shaped like Ws, they kept hanging up and didn't spin freely in the basket. Other than that, the thing works amazingly well.
