I Build a Cordless Tesla that charges itself and Take Another road trip with the Tesla but this time I went 3500 Miles without charging, and without the waiting time to charge up with version 3.0 of the Tesla with a generator in Trunk.

get an extra 25 cents back for every gallon on your first tank of gas.
I built a jet go-kart for Danny Duncan and drove it to his house to give it to him in person and this was also my destination, The total round trip including stops was 3500 Miles and I used 76.2 gallons of Diesel which brought my actual Miles Per Gallon 45.69 MPG in my All Wheel Drive Tesla.
I had quite a few issues along the way and I included all of that in this video.

I had an idea for electric cars that's similar to what you did. Instead of mounting the engine in the car, instead mount it in a light trailer along with the fuel and the radiator. That way you only need to tow the diesel engine when you need range extension. You can also get an engine that's the perfect size and have a larger diesel tank while minimizing noise and modifications to your car. A Coleman Caboose trailer is kind of the size I was thinking but obviously made out of something more heat resistant.

@@More_Row A couple of reasons. First, pickup bed for fuel tank (this needs to be on one tank of fuel if it can be done). Next, people will see it coming from over the horizon and know it's an EV, when they get close they can see a big sticker on the side that says, "Diesel Electric Cannonball." Of course this would be at the legal speed limit - done only for purposes of demonstration. 😉

Now it needs reliability. Gotta engineer it like Toyota.
@fZionists78
@fZionists78 24 күн бұрын
Step one- Make it a gutless rattletrap. Step two- Make it less efficient and handle horribly. Two steps closer to Toyota. “Toyota reliability” is the lack of engineering. The absence of comfort, performance, and advancements. Reliability can only be measured against similar performance. I suppose Ford could remove the twin turbos from their 3.5 ecoboost, replace the 10-speed with a 4, cheapen up the chassis, and strive for 3 star safety ratings. Then F150s would last as long and be as useless as a “reliable” Tacoma. Anyone can produce cheaply made reliable commuter cars. Most drivers/customers demand more. Hence why Toyota is ditching their reliable, gutless, gas guzzling v8 and copying the ecoboost. When a vehicle isn’t nearly as comfortable, fast, well handling, capable of doing the work etc., reliability can’t be compared.
@logitech4873

@@fZionists78 Last I checked the F-150 has terrible safety scores. But then again, it's a monstrously huge vehicle and it makes no sense as a personal car.

That's pretty good consumption numbers for an aerodynamically compromised design. Next step is to improve the cooling, streamline aero further and turn that Tesla into a more functional hybrid. Any chance of actually fitting the engine in the frunk with some layout optimization?
@WarpedPerception
@WarpedPerception 24 күн бұрын
Surprisingly the Tesla is very aerodynamically compromised... A lot of people don't realize that and that has crossed my mind. Crazy enough mounting that Giant spoiler on there angled properly actually helped my numbers, nobody believes me I didn't even believe it, but I tested it over and over and over again with and without. I'm pretty sure it's breaking up some sort of high pressure zone behind the car is my guess... But even now is all right this I'm still very doubtful that it's helping even though I tested it 20 times.

Just doing the conversion maths using values in the info box... (all values are rounded up/down to 2 decimal places) 288.45L of diesel, 5632.7km of distance... That's 19.53km/L, or using 5.12L per 100km, is just-on $10 AUD of diesel ($1.96 AUD/L) per 100km of travel where I live. Honestly; that's pretty damn impressive considering the mass of the AWD Tesla and the reduced aerodynamics to have the cutout for the engine's exhaust in the boot, plus the running of the engine overnight to recharge the battery instead of hooking up to the grid.

I'm surprised by those final mileage stats... I would have guessed better but once that little diesel got stuck WOT that probably skewed the numbers. That cordless Tesla really tried you the whole trip but priceless driving by all those others standing around waiting for their cars to finish charging. I drive diesel variant of the see-thru car, same color exterior/interior even, a 2005 E-320 CDI... it's onboard computer reports about 40mpg highway if I keep CC locked around 69mph but in truth, 35mpg is more realistic when calculating gallons between fill-ups. Get you some silver sulfadiazine for those burns. Great video as always!!!

That's funny that they market the "Tail of the Dragon" like it's meant to be driven but there's a posted speed limit and likely police constantly patroling the area.

I don't know if there's space but on the bottom side rocker panels you could possibly run your current lines one on the passenger 1 on the driver's side right underneath the doors but inside the paneling.

I can’t wait for this diesel electric stuff to appear in a diy class a retrofit. Throw in 2-3 cheap Tesla battery packs, some solar, etc etc.

How do you get the power into the battery? Are you using a generator on the diesel engine and then feeding it to the AC charger? How did you make the car take a charge while driving in that case

excellent mileage. I wonder if you installed a flexible exhaust section like the braided section used near catalytic converters to isolate the exhaust from the engine vibration, if that wouldn't solve the weld failures?
