Sir, I am unable to add int to the vector. Googled it but could not find any solution. You told that it automatically converts to Integer. But it is not happening in my case. I am using jdk 1.8 version. Error: The method addElement(Object) in the type Vector is not applicable for the arguments (int). Update: I used generics and the issue is resolved. But I was expecting it to be automatically box it.

set() method is present in List interface so it is Bydefault available to all its child. So you can use this method in ArrayList or LinkedList no problem.

hello array is worst when we enter in middle whereas linked list is best when we insert in middle.i agree. my question is when i want to insert in between linked list then first i have to travel till my position and then i will insert element e.g. i have 100 elements linked list and i want to enter element at 50th position then i have to travel 49 elements first and then i will insert at 50th position. whereas for array i have to shift 50 positions after 49th element to make place for 50th elwment and then i will insert 50th element.

You are incorrect, unlike array linked list does not have to worry about moving all the element to the position if you are adding in a particular position, all it does is rewire the nodes
