Love HD28's and D45's. They are my favorites!

Excellent comparison and demo, thank-you for doing such a great job. The sonic nuance/difference was very clear. Too many people here obviously viewing this demo on their iPhone using the speaker. Or maybe they're just arm chair guitarists who have never even played a D-28 in person. 😆

Some of the detractors here I've wondered if they have tried these guitars in person? Martin is making some of the best guitars in decades. I've got a 2018 D-41 that is possibly the best sounding and loudest guitar I've ever played. It really harkens back to a similar sound to prewar models. No it doesn't sound like a 70s overbraced 28 if that is your thing nor my previous 1980s HD-28. But if I was on a deserted island, the reimagined guitar would be the one I'd take, even over two vintage Martins I own including a 1944 D-18 that doesn't have forward shifted bracing. They certainly don't sound like Taylors either.

Umm...I need to call you on a correction...both the the D-28 and (1976 on forward HD-28) had dot inlay...diamond and square became part of the reimagined upgrade...the HD-28 introduced or re-introduced if you take into account bringing back herringbone and scalloped bracing 1976 never had diamonds and squares...dots were there from 76 on forward until the reimagined series...I personally think that was a bit of a mistake to call an HD-28 an HD-28 with diamonds and squares because the "HD-28" never existed in that configuration and was not forward shifted under that nomenclature HD-28....does that make sense? At any rate, they are the best production guitar on the planet regardless of my little picks and jabs on that note. Basically the Reimagined HD-28 is an HD-28V minus the V neck profile. The Reimagined D-28 is more historically accurate to that late 40s/early 50s era where they still built a forward shifted but moved to straight braced dreadnaught.

As well as the neck on the HD28V being different, it also has the through saddle. The HD28 Reimagined has a drop in saddle.

Even though this tester was strumming too hard, to hear any nuance, it was apparent that the "reimagined" D-28 does not really sound like a D-28 any more. I don't know if others could hear it. But I can hear this new Martin screaming in agony, like Nancy Kerrigan. Shouting: "Why? Oh why? Why me?"

"I do that so I can get as much low end as possible" except you can't hear any low end. Both these guitars sound better in person. This clip makes both guitars sound terrible.

What strings are on these guitars? Without knowing that, the comparison is meaningless.

I never understand why a store doesn’t put a really great Flatpicking guitarist behind these guitars I’ve seen cases where the store is trying to sell a $5000 guitar and somebody is strumming a folksong get the fuck out of here!

Not well recorded and just thrashing nonsense doesn't go anywhere near showing what the guitars can do. This video won't sell these guitars.
