The rub with this song is that it is Biblical. Unfortunately, a lot ("A LOT") of today's Christian music focuses on a "man" centered gospel, rather than the Christ centered Gospel...in other words feel good stuff. The Lord has placed this a lot on my heart recently. For example, this song places the emphasis on Jesus, HIS saving mercy and grace, and HIS goodness. This is one of a very few that is doctrinally correct nowadays. The Bible says, "Salvation is of the Lord"; not of man, not of any creature, nor of any other gods. Contrast that with many of today's worship songs, it's all about me, me, me. I challenge any one of you to listen very carefully to modern worship songs. Most do not even mention the blood of Christ, his mercy, or his grace or that we are lost undone sinners without him. One is hard pressed to hear a worship song that if it was the only worship song that a sinner were to ever hear, would he/she be able to decipher the plan of salvation from it? But if you do listen very closely, it's all about having the blessings and not the blood, prosperity rather than power, and the dance more than the Choreographer. Some may say, oh come on now, you are just trying to find fault and you need to lighten up. Really? Should I? All I can say is, "LISTEN VERY CLOSELY" and you'll see what I'm speaking of is true. Give me the story of HIS blood, give me the knowledge of HIS broken body, give me the wonder of his mercy, and the news of his grace!
