Joe and Kit’s acting in the last scene is Emmy worthy. So good. Don’t be sad that they didn’t say I love you in this episode. Alice revealed that the title of episode 1 of season 3 is titled ‘Love’. Also, if she writes it like it appears in the book than it will be epic!

This episode takes us on a roller coaster and it is so very special. The friendships, the big moves forward, communication between the friends and couples…so special. The opening scene is a song by Baby Queen called Colours of You and as she is singing the chorus, “covered in the colours of you” and Char comes out and jumps in Nick’s arms…Char is literally covered in Nick’s pride flag colors and Nick is covered in Char’s pride flag colors! The attention to detail just makes this show even more of a piece of art! Love every part. Can’t wait for season three and hoping for a season 4! Loved your reactions! ❤

They chose “Seven” because the lyrics fit so well with Darcy’s home situation, especially if you imagine the song is being sung from Tara’s perspective (“I’ve been meaning to tell you/I think your house is haunted/your dad [mom] is always mad and that must be why/ I think you should come live with me / and we can be pirates / then you won’t have to cry / or hide in the closet”). While most shows would probably slap a Taylor Swift song on the soundtrack just for the buzz of it, Heartstopper wanted this song specifically because of the meaning behind it, and the way it connects to children of abuse, and particularly queer women. They actually reached out to Taylor and her team with a letter explaining why they wanted to use the song and what scene it would be for, because they couldn’t afford the full licensing fee, and Taylor liked the scene so they were able to negotiate a reduced deal. That’s one of the things I love about this show, everyone involved cares so much.

Taylor swift loved this show so much that she didn’t even charge them to use the song she felt so honored they wanted to use her song that she allowed it.

The scene with Nick and Charlie was so powerful and just incredibly done. I read it took them 8 hours to film and both Kit and Joe needed to be isolated afterwards because it was so emotionally charged and taxing. They truly put so much into that moment. On a side note- I loved it when Nick realizes about his crush on his instructor because it calls back to Season 1 when he didn't realize he was already falling for Charlie but wanted to get him on the team. Nick didn't know he was crushing already, he just wanted him with him. It was so freakin sweet!

There’s no need to apologize for taking your time getting these out - I follow a lot of people who react, and you are well ahead of four of them. I love the scene between Nick and Tao for the way it shows how their friendship has developed from being fraught in the past, but you are right that it is also great to see two people, both of whom care deeply for Charlie, pooling their collective knowledge of him to better help him deal with his mental health. I know there are dark times still to come in the story, but the feeling of joy is never far away.

That final scene where charlie opened up broke me it was so beautifully done and joe diserves a award for his acting in it and i will be sad if he sends that text because that is not how it happens in the novels its such a epic part that i hope the text is them teasing like they did with tao and elle kiss and actualy follow how it happened in the novel x

Great reaction Corey. I read somewhere that the final scene, which is about 7 minutes long, took 7 hours to film, such was the commitment to getting it right. Also, from the way that Elle handled that paintbrush at the prom preparations, I'm beginning to think that someone else might have painted her Lambert painting 😄.

Yes it did take 7 hours to film. Joe confirmed this on Instagram. He said that the story was so emotionally draining that they used uncut dialogue to film and use.

I can’t remember if you said you’ve read the comics but either way: trust Alice. The way she wrote the ‘I love you’ moment is wonderful and it’ll be amazing on screen next season. A few musical facts for this episode: - The singer at prom was Baby Queen! She’s had a lot of songs used in the series, like ‘Colours of You’ (at the start of this episode) which she wrote last season for Nick and Charlie - They showed Taylor Swift the scene they wanted to use her song in and apparently she loved it so much that she pretty much just let them have it (likely that it was a very small royalty instead of a normal one) - The final song ‘ur so pretty’ is performed by Wasia Project, which is a band made up of Tao’s actor and his sister Loved seeing your reaction to this season, can’t wait for the next one! 😊 P.S. it’s not as sweet as Heartstopper but I really think you should watch the (new) Heartbreak High! It’s great Aussie content that features plenty of queer characters.

I enjoy your reactions! This season really was so powerful. I cannot watch it without bawling 😭 my eyes out. Especially episode 8 Charlie wrapping himself into a ball and Nick removing the layers…. So powerful. I love these characters so much. It seems there is a lot of green tones this season and I think it’s because Nick and Charlie are a couple now and. Because 💛+💙=💚. 😊 Season three will be a bit deeper and darker, but I am confident Alice and team will do an amazing job! Excited about Vol 5 in December. BTW do any of you spot Alice in the background when they are setting up for prom? Also, the last song playing in episode eight is William Goa his sister. I think he is playing the piano and she is doing the vocal. It’s beautiful. They have a band called Wasia Project. That song is called “ ur so pretty” So many mixed emotions here! I believe Ben does recognize he is toxic to Charlie on the multiple occasions because after each one, he offers his lame apology and believes he truly has apologized to Charlie until during their study hall time Nick forces him to better see how much he hurt Charlie I, too, felt bad for Ben during his sincere apology at Lambert, but if he was truly truly regretful he would not still be acting like a douchebag. Actions will always speak louder than words. In real life, people will tell you and show you who they really are. Bash seems like a lovely human being and it would have been amazing to see Ben really turn around. For me, I’m sad and a bit scared for the Ben character because he is in such a dark place and literally has not one person in his corner. Hopefully, he really does see how rotten he has been and does make better decisions moving forward……especially now that he sees just how happy he could be. I understand he has an unsupportive home life but that doesn’t give him the right to be so nasty to people. That’s the part that is unforgivable. That’s why Charlie has no forgiveness for Ben. If Darcy’s and Ben’s parents can’t accept and love them for who they truly are, maybe it’s best to walk away from them until they can….if that’s even possible. FAMILY is not always who you’re born into. Seek out and find the right people and surround yourself with them. 💛💙.

Corey do you have Patreon. If so what name is it under? I love your reactions and want to watch them in full please 💕 Alice has given such a strong voice to queers everywhere!!! As a very proud Italian mom of a bullied bi daughter & straight son, I love these stories, they give hope to teens and parents🤞💕 This is such an emotional “perfect” episode💔😭 with so many Easter Eggs hidden in plain sight. It’s amazing how one hickey caused Nick to come out (so much for staying low key in Paris ❤️) In an IG post, Joe confirmed that they all had so much fun filming full day of prom activities (what’s really interesting is that they said all the prom activities were improvised and filmed, nothing choreographed) and the next day of filming took them 7 hours to film because the scene was emotionally, physically and mentally draining for both 💔😭 and he said that filming started at end of day (you can actually see Kit’s tear stained eyes as Joe started talking 😭). Again Alice brought back the first time running after Charlie in S1E3 at Harry’s party (now they ran up stairs in the Louvre in s2e5 to escape guard played by the executive producer Euros. Alice once again introduced V4 book. I noticed that s2e8 opened with Nick looking at pictures on wall then looking and opening instagram whereas s2e1 opens with Charlie doing same, also s1e8 started the same as s2e1. But it is so heartbreaking to remember a smiling Nick at end of s2e1 with a very concerned Nick at end of s2e8. The scene feels as though Nick took Imogen’s advice in s2e4 “…being honest is better than living with regret.” Nick also wore the same Vanes grey Nike T-shirt and jeans he wore to Charlie’s house in s2e1. Charlie throws himself to Nick (referring to s1e6 & saying to Nick “you’re amazing” for coming out to Tara and now to everyone on Instagram (s2e8). Instead of Charlie and his sister, Tori, destroying us at the beginning of S1E8, they, Charlie and Nick, destroyed us at the end of S2E8💔😭 “Colours of you, Nick and Charlie“ is the Heartstopper anthem by Baby Queen playing as Nick posted on Instagram that he is Bi and they (the cast) are all a part of the music video.Charlie ends with “…it’s perfect” but nick’s face shows us that it’s not, it’s an illusion 💔 How can one word hold so much fear and pain 💔😭 Again because of people asking if dating, Charlie refused to eat again 😡💔😭Beautiful talk again with Tao and Nick about Charlie again (repeat of s1e5, the first time they speak at Charlie’s birthday & s1e8 when they speak at bench during lunch at yellow bench) and Nick was surprised that Charlie never spoke to anyone (especially his best friend) about the bullying, even though Nick did remember in s1e2 with bullies in hallway of gym (Alice shows us how important that relationship is, not only for Charlie but Nick too, as Toa is Charlie’s best friend and Nick’s his boyfriend ). In S1E2 Charlie asks Nick about his haircut but we knew what Nick meant when he answered “no you… it looks good” (Nick has always been obsessed with Charlie’s hair) in s2e8 before Nick says Charlie looks so good; the globe is unlit at beginning of scene but once Nick says “you look so good” and Nick sees Charlie the globe lights up(showing that Charlie is his whole world). Stephan Frye is back again (same as s1e8) & the same colour streamers were used in s1e8. Cameo and song by Baby Queen during Tao and Elle’s dance. We are given some treats of what’s coming for Imogene and Sahar; Isaac finally finds his book; the teachers will hopefully get what is coming in v4; and the bullies are shown there again 😡 Nick trying to find Charlie (same as Harry’s bday party of s1e3 & the louver s2e5) and both escape prom with their friends this time. At prom we were reminded of Nick and Charlie’s first time holding hands (s1e3) and running up stairs both in s1e3 and s2e5 (at Louver). They greeted Darcy and Tara with a group hug. It’s so beautiful when Taylor Swifts’ song, Seven, (just realized that the song “seven” is about our beautiful 7 home squad. Taylor’s song came on after Tara and Darcy “I love you’s”. We were then witness to their “perfect” prom. At the end, they both hugged their friends goodbye at the door (Nick at front and Charlie beside him at back) like an old married couple ❤️ It was a great way that Kit used his rugby trophy as a way for Charlie to open up about the bullying. Their emotional scene at the end showed such maturity and love from both and with tears in each other’s eyes they broke the audience 💔😭(Alice also brought us back to the end of s1e8 when Nick wiped away a tear after telling his mom he was bi). After their talk it feels that Charlie’s struggle with food lies in being outed, the bullies and Ben. They both wanted to to say “I love you” at the door❤️They recreated their kiss in Charlie’s bedroom (same position and heels lifting up) and when the last song (played by Tao’s band, Wasia Project, Will on keys and his sister singing) played, with worry in Nick’s eyes and a smiling Charlie (hopefully he has found a little solace in telling Nick) wearing nick’s blue jumper (that was hanging on the chair behind Charlie) home, the same way s2e1 ended with upset tori now upset Nick and a smiling Charlie ready to say I love you ❤️True soulmates💕💕 As per interview with Alice and the filming bts on beach and sea, we are going to get Paris squad beach day, Nick packing for his trip at his house, Charlie sees pictures on Nick’s wall, infamous shower scene 🌊🏖️🛀🙇♂️🌅❤️!!! Yes Alice, scenes from v4. Oh my I just realized at Charlie’s party in s2e1 the whole LGBTAI+ alphabet was there in room (Tara & Darcy; then Charlie & Nick; then Elle (ally in Tao) and finally Issac). Another parallel in rewatching s1, Sara, Nick’s mom, is wearing the same colour and style of the mustard yellow jumper that she wore in s1e2 & again in s2e2. Tara and Darcy came out first to Elle in s1e2, Tara then came out to Nick in s1e3 at Harry’s birthday party & Nick came out to Tara (S1E6 girls) & Nick came out as bi at Tara’s bday party in Paris (S2E6) and they ran to teachers’ room in Paris in same running formation holding hands (down hall to school gym for concert) at the end of e6 both s1 & s2. Also, another parallel is near the end s1e8 Nick jubilantly called out “you’re my boyfriend! I’m your boyfriend! We’re boyfriends!” Near the end of s2e8, Nick whispers to Charlie “You’re my boyfriend.” The first time marked the beginning of their journey of discovery about what that means & the second one shows what Nick has truly learned what being boyfriends really means ❤️😭👨❤️👨❤️ Not sure if Alice did this on purpose, but if you look at where Nick sits, lays down, bowling, kisses Charlie, talks (with anyone), hugs, running after Charlie up stairs, the beach houses & towels they were laying on and beach houses were behind them (Nick blue side & Charlie yellow side), even when he walks Nellie he is ALWAYS on left (for both seasons). Nick starts off sitting on Charlie’s left and always sits at the blue benches outside and yellow when he talks to Tao in s1e8. On Instagram first time Nick: follows 865 and posts 53 at start of s1e1 986/58/273 at end of s2 e8 Charlie: 143 / 46 and following 179
