Despite not graduating and graduating from high school nor going to college, Corey Taylor is very smart. Common sense and street smarts are strong in this one!!!

yeah its still sad that people believe your education has to define who you are going to be forever, ive had over 20 years of schooling, 2 different colleges and university. I think i do okay in life personally but i have known many many people who had no time or interest for education outside of what was manditory to them and alot of them are a hell of a lot more smarter then me with no degrees behind them. You make the person you become people.

I think I know what he means. I have a passion for music and when I was a teenager, I tried so hard to learn and master the guitar. I know my way around a guitar, but I couldn't master it... just wasn't me. Then I started drumming and found that it came naturally to me. 10 years of drumming and I haven't looked back.

Watching this changed my life in 2011. I wanted to be a musician so badly, nothing else appealed to me in the slightest. I tried and tried and it just never worked out. Looking back now, i realised i had the passion for it, but I honestly wasn't that good. But I soon realised I was good at talking to people and demonstrating new ideas to others. So I became a salesman, and have gone on to make a successful career out of it. If i hadn't watched this, and continued to follow my passion instead of what I was actually good at, I would not have been successful and be in a much worse position than I am today. Thank you Corey.

Because of you I work hard to make the music I know and love and push myself to get better every single day. I'm 33 and received my Bachelor's a little over 4 years ago. I would not change having the degree for anything but not because I'm truly passionate about the field. The people I met while getting my degree are some of the best people I've even known and I would not give them up for anything, especially my professors. That said my degree is in a field that I honestly couldn't care less about. I thought it was going to be something I could be good at and although I'm competent in the field I have absolutely no interest in it whatsoever. If you are going to college or feel you have to go to college all I can tell you is pursue something you love and are good at. Don't let anyone tell you that in order to be successful you must go to college first; some of the richest men on this planet never went to college , or never finished their degrees.

I wish this video was out when I was in college. I received my AA (2 year degree) with mostly music classes. I loved playing and always wanted to play in an orchestra, or some band that played in packed stadiums. I never could get good enough to go into the symphonic band at my college. Only beginning jazz class. I poured most of my life into practicing and never seemed to get past a certain point. Several jobs later, I'm working for a pest prevention company and love it. I'm pretty good at it too.

I was following him up until the end of this video. When I was 16-21, I wanted more than anything to be a musician. A guitarist, songwriter, etc. After taking a few acting classes in college, I learned that I was more naturally talented at acting and theatrical performance. So according to Corey Taylor, I should be pursuing acting. But what about music? I still jam out in my basement and feel I'm God when I play. He says do what you enjoy at the end of this video. Contradicting his thesis.

Off topic, however I just finished watching 'Rock of Ages' and couldn’t help but feel that perhaps as Corey’s film debut he could do a musical. I know that sounds insane at first, but think about it-every musical we have ever seen has been geared towards women. I imagine a massive musical that pulls in as many well know actors as 'Rock of Ages’ but includes the music of Stone Sour, Slipknot, and Corey Taylor!! How sick would that be! The first man’s musical-with a wicked story of course!

everything can be developed, its all coming to neurons and brain (lets set aside the phisical body ), what is he trying to tell , that he is not aware of , is that choose the path that ur brain is developed the most. when u have a goal u want to achieve , it will be done by trial and error until you find the way to do it. But there is also a way to reprogramm yourself to love something u dont love at the moment.

Quite contradictory with the love vs being good at something. I get what he meant that. It made me think of Colin kaepernick. He was awarded multiple scholarships for baseball and turned it down for the only school that offered a football scholarship. He followed the thing he loved more than the thing he was already good at and he made it to the Super Bowl his rookie year. It's hard to say what works for one works for another. It's mostly chance and circumstance.

@Noxas4 Your comment is exactly right. What he chose as a premise was flawed because it's not consistent. I understood what he meant however. He was trying to get across that you need to evaluate your situation and do what you're good at rather than love at first. He made it pretty clear that he didn't graduate HS so I wasn't expecting a scholar here. He is really trying to help people.

That's what I'm talking about though, being able to write lyric after lyric song after song. It's so hard if it's not your strong point, which is were the talent comes in. I've writen lyrics for 2 bits of 2 songs I wrote, both in my uploads, Butterfly, and Lost and Found. Both one off's but I can't do it at the click of a finger like a lyricist can. THAT's where the talent comes in. Some people can, some poeple can't so that to me is, what a talent is.
