Winston repeats this performance once a day when given a Ritz cracker. He only does it for the first cracker. No Ritz cracker should be eaten until it is properly courted!

This is pretty astounding to me. It's the first time I've ever seen a dog delay gratification, something I have a problem doing. He made the most of it, savoring every second of anticipation, then eating it slowly. I didn't know dogs had the ability to refrain from the "gulp it's gone" approach.

We always had big coon hounds on the farm where I grew up. I laughed out loud fr when I read "the gulp and it's gone" comment. That's exactly how they ate everything, and I do mean everything. 🐕

My Corgi does the exact same thing when I give him a dental stckl. He will play with it , throw it in the air but only if he is not being watched. If thinks you are watching he will stop. They are silly dogs

With mine, it's new pressed bones. Every time he gets one, he runs around with it, comes up to us and teases us with it, and then rolls around on it for five minutes or so. THEN it's time to start nibbling on it! 🤣

I had a Basset Hound who would make a whole ordeal out of eating her food. Her bowl was in the kitchen so she would take one piece of kibble, run all the way through the house to the living room, throw it around for a little while before eating it and then run all the way back to her food bowl to repeat the process. She would also hoard socks and randomly pull them out of hiding places when she wanted to play with them.

Corgis are great dogs only for the right owner, someone that will research them fully and understands their needs. I have had 5 from 1988-2021. They have pros and cons that need to be addressed also the 12-15 year commitment, one of mine lived to be 16.

Leslie, of course you are right about researching a particular breed prior to bringing one home. Mine unfortunately only lived to 11 due to cancer, a brother and sister who died only 3 mo apart. They were fine and then suddenly they were not. I would not trade those 11 years with them for a million dollars. Best puppies we've ever had, certainly the cutest. They shed constantly, you need a really good vacuum cleaner! They bark, they herd, they'll eat anything. Like all herding breeds they require plenty of both physical and mental exercise. Though I don't have pure bred Corgis now, and due to my age I probably won't be getting a new puppy again, I would be hard pressed to say no if one came my way that needed a good home. There is just something special about that Corgi smile......
